A little while ago, someone suggested that I read 'the Quincux' by Charles Palliser. I was so blown away by the book, but when I realised it was about 10 years old, wondered if there are any other brilliant gems out there waiting for me to discover!!
So would you kindly tell me your favourite murder/mystery/detective books I particulalry like those which have some kind of clever twist and/or a realy meaty plotline. To give you a guide as to what tickles my fancy, these are my favourites (and recommendations) so far (not in any particular order):

An instance of the fingerpost
The name of the rose
The murder of Roger Ackroyd
