Has anyone hated 'Sister' by Rosamund Lupton as much as me?

I'm staggering through this book for my book group, but does anyone else think it is dull and badly written, and has loads of grammatical mistakes for a book which has been so hyped up? How do books like this get published?

Spoiler alert

I started off hating it, but was only holiday and only took one book (yeah- I know- schoolgirl error), so I persevered and by the end I thought it was alright, but I dont understand the hype.

Also, I "got" the ending about half way through (unusual for me) so was shouting "Noo, don't do that, he's a murderer"

Also I'm bored about books involving evil pharma companies.

Finally, she nicked the idea for the ending from the film "The Descent"

I quite liked it. bluejeans, do you still have that copy or have you binned it? I don't know if I have anything in my books to go out of the house pile you would like in its place.

I quite liked it Grin

I think it'll be a better film than a book, which sums it up really!

I've read it, I remember not being being that impressed with it but I can't actually remember what the book was about!

SPOILER ALERT

Sister goes missing, something about a baby and a married man. Then does he kill her and makes it look like she killed herself? That's as far as I remember.

It was such a memorable book.

Elkiedee I've had no takers at all - I guess this is not the best thread to offer it on Wink. If you PM me your address you can have it! If you have anything that's nothing like Sister in your cast-off pile I might like it!

Valium - I didn't know it was being made into a film. Usually don't enjoy films of books I've read but think in this case it would probably be better than the book...

I really enjoyed it, missed all the hype though.

Thank you bluejeans, will pm you later. What books have you enjoyed recently?

bluejeans · 18/05/2011 23:25

Enjoyed The hand that first held mine and sort of liked When God was a rabbit, but don't worry if you don't have anything to swap. Will be glad to pass Sister on!
