Are these 2 books too ´light weight´for our book club?

Have been told that they want something uplifting and have been thinking about This Perfect World or The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society but I am worried that although they sound good and are easy reads there might not be much to talk about? Can anyone help me with their opinion of this? Thanks.

I haven't read This Perfect World but The Guernsey Literaray & Potato Peel Pie Society I can highly recommend. There are plenty of characters and events within the book that would make interesting discussion fodder for a book club. It is considered lightweight due to the writing style but I found it quite moving and went on to research some history because of it. Fabulous book!

The Potato Peel Society book is lightweight, but it depends what you're group is like - mine enjoyed it, but it's not exactly chellenging

My MILs book club recently read The Guernsey..... and they are all clever clogs. Their book club is a bit of light relief. I read it after her and really enjoyed it. I'd recommend "The Uncommon Reader" - Alan Bennet too, having read MIL's hand me down. Easy to read, but raises some interesting points.

I loved Potato Peel Pie Society. It's lightweight, but not silly. I found the war history in the book really interesting, because I have to admit to never really thinking about the existence of Guernsey at all The epistolary style was also a change from what I usually read.

potato peel book absolute unmitigated tripe - badly written chick-lit-lite imo ... my book club read it and I resented every minute I spent on it
