Armistead Maupin...any fans ?

He is one of my favourite authors - am considering suggesting a Tale of the City book for my book group when it's my turn - anyone any suggestions for which one ? (I think Babycakes is my favourite)

I haven't read them all binker but I do remember reading several of them and enjoying them. I particularly enjoyed the one when they solved the riddle of Mrs Madrigal!

I would go with Tales of The City. Then everyone can get to know the characters. I love all the Tales of the city series. Keep meaning to read his other books.
Loved the original dramatisation as well. If you watch Family Affairs, the older of the gay couple played Micheal in the original series.

love these books. i think you can read them individually. i like the one partly set in england - i think that's babycakes.

v. excited to hear about a new one mb, i feel a hardback purchase coming on!

I'll probably buy the hardback straight away - he's the only author I'd do that for - have been to two of his readings (for Sure of You and Maybe the Moon) and he signed them for me - I was so overwhelmed that I talked total rubbish to him,according to my friend

Yes do the 1st one at book group so people can get to know all the characters. wish I could read them for the first time again

Love his books and I've read them all. I was most impressed years ago when I went to look at a flat to rent, as the owner had a signed poster for tales of the city. I thought the TV series was great too!

they are great. read all the TOTC series and the Night Listener. I would go for the first TOTC
