This is driving me crazy - does anyone know the title or author of this book? It's set in America, and starts when a loved-up married couple are just emerging from a morning quickie when the police come to arrest the husband. He's a very respected man locally - think he's a local hero fireman - and the charge is of (I think) child molestation, from many years ago.
Everyone starts off assuming it's a horrible mistake but it's not that simple - the family falls apart, the son gets in with a bad crowd and starts fire-raising - can't remember how it ends.
It's a sort of Alice Hoffman- style thing - PLEASE please if you have any idea, let me know, I'm losing sleep over this!
