I dont usally read dark stuff but both Pig Island and Tokyo were gripping, and dark, really haunting

the birdman however was shit, but grim

have only read 'Ritual' and this was stomach-turning in places, but very readable

what was so bad about 'Birdman'?

MadreInglese · 12/04/2011 12:30

I love Mo Hayder books, have read The Birdman, The Treatment, Tokyo and Pig Island, I'm sure there's two or three more she's written but I've not got to those yet

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2011 12:44

I read The Treatment when it came out and it was gripping. I read The ritual recently and wasn't that impressed.

porcamiseria · 12/04/2011 13:38

birdman was not very well written, poor characterisaton!

I am too scared to read the Treatment, is it that bad?

ciao franca!

Ciao porcamiseria!

No, I wouldn't recommend The Treatment to a parent, no.

cornishpasty · 12/04/2011 14:06

Love all her books. But the treatment and birdman are both quite disturbing.
I've just ordered her new one and can't wait.

I liked the Treatment but it was upsetting.....

SpringchickenGoldBrass · 12/04/2011 14:30

Interesting stuff but unsettling in places (particularly Ritual and Skin).
I agree with Franca that the Treatment is not a good idea for parents to read...

I have just started reading her books and have only read Birdman so far but I loved it!! Have now bought "Ritual" and also "Gone".
