The Slap

I have just finished the Slap and am not sure whether I liked the book or not!!

I found it an interesteding read but felt annoyed with certain characters almost from the off and really didn't like alot of the language used

Any thoughts? :)

I didn't enjoy the book, or like the majority of the characters, the topic was interesting though.

I had a similar response - I liked the general theme of the book and found it challenging, but many of the characters were awful.

I felt that the author was a male chauvinist with little empathy for female readers....but strangely I did enjoy it...

The book group I am in al hated it though!

I'm about 50 pages in so far and agree that I hate the language and have not yet found any redeeming qualities in any of the characters. Don't know if I'll bother finishing it now that it seems it doesn't get any better :o

I liked the idea of the slap itself and the repercussions but had to wade through loads of rubbish to really rread the book - off now to read the webchat :)

I didn't like it (hated the characters), but the webchat was very interesting - and I think he 'defended' (if that's the right word) his book pretty well, and came over as an interesting, thoughtful bloke.
