Poems for Mothers' Day

Have come across a lovely idea, a pamphlet called 'Ten poems About Mothers', and the idea is that you send it instead of a card. Cards get thrown away but this is to keep. The people who produce them are called Candlestick Press (www.candlestickpress.co.uk). They have some lovely 'not cards' on other subjects including Puddings and Love. :) Anyway, a lovely solution for something special for mothers' day.

Human Affection

Mother, I love you so.
Said the child, I love you more than you know.
She laid her head on her mother's arm,
And the love between them kept them warm.

I agree, I have a copy and adore the variety of poems in there. An especially lovely one towards the end of the pamphlet 'The Chiffonier' by Fleau Adcock - sentiments Im sure many people would want to express to their mums. I would definitley recomend as an alternative to mothers day card - such a good idea!

i also have a copy of this beautiful collection of poems!

What i really loved about it was the variety of styles, sentiments and intentions behind the poems. really accessible to everyone and in a way reflects the many different roles we fulfill as mums.

But i must admit, what really makes it for me (i'm a visual kind of lady) is the fabulous print on the front. that to me is exactly why i agree it is so suitable in stead of a card, the front is a card in its own right and i will frame it if i can't find a copy of it elsewhere. thinking of asking candlestickpress for one.

i will give my mum and mum-in-law a copy with a message from us on the inside cover..
