Mental illness is tough - both living with it and caring for it so we hope our experiences and our books about them will help. They are written by both patient and carer on their journey of recovery so give a unique perspective from both sides of the journey.

The Naked Bird Watcher
The Snow Globe Journals
When Do I Get My Shoelaces Back?
all by Suzy Johnston, the patient

To Walk on Eggshells
by Jean Johnston, the carer

for further info - the website is www.thecairn.com The books are in libraries, bookshops and all internet book sites.

Can I use this thread to recommend another Johnstone pair writing about mental illness?

I had a black dog and Living with a black dog, fantastic comic style (not silly) books. Google image the titles to get an idea. Great for me (sufferer), great for my short attention span at the time and made me feel understood. Great for DH (carer) to help him understand and felt understood too.
