Apologies if there is another thread already, I couldn't see it.

Just wondered if anybody else had their email to say they have been selected as a giver?

I have and I am so excited!!! I still don't know which book it will be.

Does anybody have anything planned for giving theirs away? Other than just handing them to friends?

Hi BBMummy. I have been selected as a giver as well. I'm getting a Carol Ann Duffy compilation. I haven't got any definite plans for most of the books. I was wondering if I could send them to other libraries in the country via the library courier service to other mumsnetters who want a free book.

Can any library assistants advise if they know this will be possible?

Grabaspoon · 27/02/2011 16:14

Our town is having a book night party at an arts centre, and some of the givers will be going round the town earlier in the afternoon giving away the books.

So, does anyone know of any book night events in Bristol?

Yup Grin me and ds1 will give out. Altho I'm really peeved with Waterstones, who told me my books were there on the phone, then when i arranged dh and the kids to meet me there to help me lug the 2 boxes back on the bus, they werent there Hmm ,although everyone else's ones were Hmm

We're doing tube station, hospice, random people in street,dh taking a few to work, me taking a few to work, might see if the man in the corner shop wants me to give spme away outside, as he's going bankrupt due to the tescos opening right opposite Sad

My DH has been selected - he's giving away the Seamus Heaney poems. He's giving them to cancer patients who use the Big C Centre (a support unit for cancer patients and their families) at our hospital.

Big day soon! I am having a party and inviting volunteers from a local charity.

Did anyone receive an email from World Book Night referring to World Nook Night by mistake? I giggled - but I would like to attend that one too!

BigBadMummy · 03/03/2011 11:27

I am still waiting to hear about my delivery. They should be arriving at the library but they cannot tell me if they will arrive today until this afternoon.

All getting a bit last minute! And I still don't know which book I have!!

I won't believe I am a giver until I actually have them, I think and then will do a mad panic last minute to organise giving them away!

Hijacking this thread-kurrikurri ,you have got to be from Norfolk/Norwich? Ive only ever heard of a cancer support network being referred to as 'the big C ' in Norwich (Im feeling nostalgic-havent lived there for 30 yrs and remember it being set up in the late 70s.)

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 10:27

Yes headintheclouds I am indeed from Norfolk (about six miles south of Norwich although I used to be in the city) Smile

Big 'C' is a Norfolk charity and they now have a fabulous building in the grounds of the N&N, - it offers terrific support and services for cancer patients, - it's a shame more hospitals don't have a similar service. DH's books were very much appreciated (he gave some out in the chemo unit too)

Whereabouts did you used to live if you don't mind me asking?

headintheclouds · 20/03/2011 21:42

kurrikurri I used to live in New Costessey and the city-Im now in Manchester
