I have been booked a massage by DH and have some money to go shopping in town afterwards and I am only allowed to buy treats for myself.

For me this means holing up in the bookshop and emerging sometime later Grin If you could recommend one book to treat myself with what would it be?

Just to help you out, I don't much like thrillers/crime/chick lit/misery/romance, am otherwise happy to consider anything that makes me think!

My recent reads have included The Help, The Long Road, The Edible Woman and The Adventures of Mary Seacole.

People of the Book is good but I can't remember the author's name.

How exciting! Have you read The Slap? It's a good read. Enjoy your day.

If you liked The Edible Woman, you could try The Handmaid's Tale or another by Margaret Atwood.

How about some 'more modern classics' perhaps? Lolita / Brideshead Revisited / The Kite Runner / Half Of A Yellow Sun /
