Please recommend a good read to me - nothing too heavy.

I need some recommendations for a good read. Nothing too heavy and something I can put down and pick up again without having to concentrate too much.

Really don't want any chick-lit.

Any ideas? I recently read Jodi Picoult "Change of Heart" - do any of hers stand out as really good? Preferably I want something I can pick up for a few pence on Amazon.

Do you have a Kindle? Lots of free and cheap books on here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/book_of_the_month/1150736-Free-Books-to-download

Totally not "chick-lit"

Storm Front by Jim Butcher. Should be a few quid on amazon. It's under Si-fi but really shouldn't be. It's funny, catchy & really runs with your imagination with a few naughty sexy bits inclusive.

I'm normally into more mellow stuff, but have got hooked on this series.

Sorry here

I have recently read this
and it was excellent, really good twists and turns but not at all complicated.
Excellent read

I second that fizzy - a good easy read and not too many twists.

Dinosaurs I have just downloaded the missing boyfriend one recommended in the thread you linked to, first Kindle read (Iphone app) so will see if I can get my head round reading off a screen!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 21/02/2011 18:07

Fizzy - let me know what it's like - I'm planning on downloading it tomorrow. The Kindle will just grown on you, honest!

fizzyliftinggas · 22/02/2011 15:35

I will do, am a couple of pages in and it seems good so far, but a page on it is about a paragraph so in real life I'm probably still on the first page!! Grin

dinosaurs this book is really good, and I am loving reading it on the Kindle, I am definitely a convert, it's great you can read/turn the page with one hand and have a cuppa in the other hand!
Not reached the end of the book yet but over half way and it's really good

fizzyliftinggas · 24/02/2011 09:42

Oh meant to say, once I have read it what do I do with it? I could send it to you if you like? I won't read it again and I don't know anyone with a Kindle, is that possible, can you transfer books?

RoundOrangeHead · 24/02/2011 16:25

this is an enjoyable read
their finest hour and a half
