Cathy Kelly is ok American / Irish chick lit!

tazmosis · 18/02/2011 20:06

Anything by Adriana Trigiani - her Big Stone Gap series is great. India Knight's two books - Don't you want me and My Life on a Plate.

Mary Wesley is a good read too.

MaryMungo · 18/02/2011 20:17

Katie Fforde. All her books have precisely the same plot, but I love them anyway. My faves are The Rose Revived and Stately Pursuits. They're very satisfying and cosy.

Having a Lovely Time by Jenny Eclair. I didn't expect to like it, but it was a great holiday read - one of those you don't want to put down 'til you've reached the end.

I forgot to say that I'm very jealous of your holiday! Where are you going? Envy

TwoWeeSausages · 18/02/2011 20:49

Marian Keyes
Louise Bagshaw
Jill Mansell
Carmen Reid
Jane Green
Matt Dunn

Another vote for Adele Parks and Marian Keyes, but also Jennifer Weiner is fantastic. Her latest book is a little weak but the earlier ones are stonking, full of heart.

She's basically the American Keyes.
