I read Ayala's Angel and absolutely loved it, and would like to know if anybody can recommend any like it by Trollope?

I started of the first of the Barsetshire novels and wasn't keen on it as it didn't have the humour of Ayala's Angel.

Any ideas? There are so many to chose from!

I loved the Barsetshire novels, but haven't read Ayala's Angel, so can't compare. Have to say, though, that the second one is the best, imo, - and the funniest. I guess you could read that without the other ones, if they don't agree with you?

Agree that the first Barsetshire novel is not the best - all those old men in the alms house IIRC
< suppresses yawn>.

The rest are loads better, Small House at Allington was my face. I loved the Palliser novels too, especially naughty Lizzie Eustace.

Was my fave (iPad corrected my spelling!)

I just really enjoyed the second Barsetshire novel - you can do without having read The Warden first - I could only vaguely remember it from years ago, & it didn't matter once I'd read a bit.
