Am new to a book club and it's my turn to choose!
Read a book a couple of years ago about a teenager who was a bit weird, left her family and ended up being a mad old lady who lived quite happily in her makeshift hut in the woods for years.
Was quite a local character, had boys who used to visit, fascinated by her ability to survive by trapping rabbits etc.
Was tolerated by warden etc, until development forced her out of her world and into civilisation.
Eventually ended up wandering the rubbish dump that used to be where her home was.
Really want to remember the title and get it for bookclub!
can anyone help please?

Hi your best bet is to post on booksleuth at abebooks - give a proper thread title and go back and they can have solved it in an hour or so ... brill website for book lovers

Hi BonzoDooDah!
Have joined and posted.
Looks like a brilliant site, thank you for introducing it to me, whether I find out what the book was or not!

Oh great - I'll look out for your post. The community forum is great. People mostly post on the USA side and don't much bother with the UK bit (it was added on afterwards and the oldtimers didn't move - already had their favourite corners etc).

Is it Pollard by Laura Beatty?
Sounds like it.

Hope it goes well!
