Help! I have read three quarters of this epic and fantastic american novel... I have book club tonight and need to make some intelligent comments....

Have no intelligent comments tpo make but am about 3/4 of the way through and LOVING it....

btw, did you see the guardian piece recently naming JF as one of the top eco culturalists (or some such term?)

Am keen to revive this thread as I'm on the final stretch. I really admire it, and I don't love it a bit. It's excellent as a formulation and all the characters are loathsome. Fabulous sentence rhythm and pulse, but an almost incredible ick factor.

I really loved this book and I don't generally have much time for books that are just long observational pieces about a bunch of people's lives.

Just started it. I didn't like The Corrections so I am not holding out much hope.
