Having just seen the film for about the 4th time and absolutely loving it, wondered what the original Patricia Highsmith book was like.
Another of my favourite films, Howard's End, was a fabulous fabulous read and a rare example of both book and film being excellent.
Has anyone read Mr Ripley? I also noticed there are a few more Ripley books.

It's unputdownable -- much better than the film. I've read all the Ripley books, and they go off the boil as the series goes on, but this first book is right up there.

No one does sinister low-level dread like P Highsmith. You never quite know where she's going. It makes for a very uneasy read. Brilliant, in other words.

Sounds great, will put it on my, rather large, to-read list!

Highsmith's books are superb - the Ripley ones will keep you hooked. He is such a fascinating and amoral character...
