free kindle books

SO I have Kindle apps on my netbook and my android but have very little in the back to spend on books.

WHat are your recommendations for free books?

Will read most things as long as it isn't romantic fiction...

Hmmm, haven't had much luck with free books so far. Apart from one Jane Austen I got, the other one I downloaded was sooooooooo rubbish (protagonists called Millie and Hugh, ugh!)

But there seem to be quite a few good books at reduced prices - I got the first two of the Millenium series (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) for 5Us$ each - am waiting for the third to get reduced...

the classics stuff I have got (Treasure Island!!) but there are some other free books by people I have never heard of, so am wondering if they are worth the effort of a 'click'

I did get the Iliad. That might be a bit much in phone sized pages though...

Good free modern books do come up every now and then. Life of Pi was free a few weeks ago but isn't now.
Otherwise there are plenty of classics, surely something you'd enjoy.
