Yes, and just about everyone we know did! I think they've had thousands of entries. And just about everyone I've spoken to did the Horowitz story!

DS1 wrote a fabulous story - he worked very hard on it. I was very proud of him, and will probably make his story into a little book for him to give to rellies at Christmas.

DS loves writing he does stories and gives them to his friends at school and they all get passed round the class and then they eagerly wait for next chapter

As soon as they see him in the morning they are asking has he done the next chapter

The last story "little people" ended up being 2 books long. He gave a special copy to the teachers cos the buzz in the classroom had alerted them to his book.

Oh that's great! You'll have to take him to Howarth to see the tiny books the Brontes wrote as children.

How old is he?

RTKMonherBroomstick · 03/10/2005 20:00

10 years old

luckily he writes them on computer now cos we can just print off copies each time his friends can't wait.

He illustrates the first copy and sometimes others but usually doesn't have the time as the other children get impatient

How old is your DS?

DS1 is just 8. But he learned to touch type earlier in the year, which has made it much easier for him to write his stories He's still quite slow, but prefers it to handwriting.

deffo brill

perhaps the two of them will be famous authors in 20 years time and keep us in our old age

Yeah JK has a lot to answer for.

Ds1 also thinks he is going to be a "rich and famous" author. We keep trying to encourage him to do something a little more reasonable to pay the bills, and do the writing bit on the side!

RTKMonherBroomstick · 03/10/2005 20:23

DS wants to be a teacher like DH and my parents and grandparents uncles and aunts and cousins.

Basically the whole family are or were teachers

But that won't make him rich or famous so wants a sideline iyswim

are you sizing up the opposition?

RTKMonherBroomstick · 03/10/2005 20:56

I was just wondering how popular it was

But obviously just rosin and her friends entered

but all for the same story

would be deffo brill if a mumsnetter DD or DS won the laptop then no competition for comp and mumsnet time
