I had an ereader for christmas (iriver, not kindle) and am trying to decide what books to buy for it.

My favourite authors are:

Iain Banks
James Herbert
PJ Tracy - their new book is still quite pricey as an ebook so I might get that in hard copy or wait a bit.
C J Sansom - I've just bought the new Heartstone book from the Shardlake series.
Kate Mosse - Also bought Winter Ghosts

I love Harry Potter, Twighlight, Northern Lights and the Sally Sparrow books. I'm also quite partial to certain types of Crime novel (Kathy Reichs and I enjoyed Ghost by Robert Harris).

I hate Mis-Lit type books and only occasionally read Chic-Lit (and then it has to have something to catch my eye e.g. My best Friends Girl).

My absolutely favourite book ever, and I have read it about 6 or 7 times is The Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffeneger

So, given this rather eclectic mix, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanking you all in advance.

Have you tried any Stephen King? Much better than James Herbert!

If you like CJ Sansom, you might like Ariana Franklyn's Mistress Of The Art Of Death series.

Oh and have you read Pullman's His Dark Materials and Sally Lockhart books?

I've read a few Stephen King's - Cell and some of his short stories (my favourites are The Longwalk, Rage and of course Shawshank). I find many of his earlier novels a bit hard going - they tend to be a bit too descriptive and wordy for my liking. However, it's been a while since I've had a go at Stephen King, so it might be worth picking them up again, now I'm older - I may have more patience with them.

I've read all three Dark Materials and Lyra's Oxford. When I said Sally Sparrow up there ^^ I did mean Sally Lockhart Blush - getting my Philip Pullman and Doctor Who characters mixed up Blush

Thanks for the Ariana Frankly recommendation, I'll have a look at those Smile
