some of the stguff I have heard from other places (although I'm sure it refers to the same study) - praising your children for their efforts and the process rather than the results etc and I'm happy with that. But some of it seemed so counter intuituve and tbh a little worrying

was just going to post this as a follow up to the tiger mothering topic....
Have just read the first two chapters and so far I have to say I adhere.
I live in Asia so I sort of have already changed my parenting perspective somehow.
DS was born in the UK 7 years ago and as a mediterranean woman, I was all into the earth mothering-cosleeping-praise the child cushioning thingy.
DD born in Asia and although am still doing it pretty much the same, am now much more into reality check mode. So am quite receptive to this book.
A little dose of old fashioned common sense is maybe what we and our children need.
Parenting in Asia is very different. Its the realm of the king -child but also very no nonsense attitude towards achievement and behavior.
