Lorrie Moore anyone?

I have read A Gate At The Stairs and I just don't know if it lives up to her previous work. What do others think?

I've just read it too, but haven't read anything else of hers. After hearing how wonderful she was, I was slightly disappointed by it. Some of the writing was wonderful - I loved her description of Glen Goulding playing Bach, for example. But didn't like the way that so much was unresolved at the end. Also, the death of the couple's first child, and her brother's funeral was an unexpectadly bleak twist.
On the strength of it I bought the Birds of the Air, and will try that.
