Has anyone else read this book? I enjoyed it a lot, though it is a long read. Its about Captain Fitzroy and Charles Darwin and their vogages on the Beagle. Harry Thompson research it alot and has put a loads of historical detail in. The book made it on the Booker longlist but unfornuately was not shortlisted.

I've read the thread but not the book sadly . Sounds pretty good. I might add it to my ever-lengthening Amazon wish-list. Trouble is I am such a slow reader and need to make more time to read as I can't see how the hell I'm ever going to get round to the ever-growing pile by my bed, never mind that wish-list.

Thanks for replying moonshine! The book has over 600 pages of fairly small print so you better break your leg or something if you want to read it.
