Good novels about witchcraft, please!

I am a bit obsessed with 16 and 17th century witchsraft (specialised in it at uni)

does anyone kow of any really decent novels with this theme?

The Crucible, by Arthur Miller?

I got a book out of the library today called 'The Owl Killers' by Karen Maitland. The blurb says it is a 'chilling gothic thriller' about witchcraft in the Dark Ages (not quite the right period I know). I can't really recommend it because I haven't read it yet, but thought I'd suggest it in case you want to look it up

The latter is by far the better.

The Bones of Avalon - Phil Rickman

On the Philippa Gregory front, have just finished The White Queen.

The queen in question (mother of the princes in the tower) uses witchcraft on her enemies.

Set in the 15th Century so a bit earlier, but a cracking read.

The Heretics Daughter is associated with the Salem witch trials

Just finished The White Witch by Elizabeth Goudge, set at the time of the civil war. White witches, evil witches, gypsy spells, faith and love.

Not quite dead on the subject but An Instance of the Fingerpost has a woman suspected of being a witch and an ending you wouldn't suspect.
