Has anyone read this yet and, if so, what did you think?

Read it - LOVED it.
I am BIG HJ fan.
He is very very funny.

We read Kalooki Nights for a book club and most people thought it was 'too Jewish' Hmm

This goes even further into Jewishness but as the man himself said (I've seen him several times at book events - ok I'm a bit obsessed) 'The more particular you are the more universal it becomes'.
I think he's so right.
'Finkler' is the word his non-Jewish character uses instead of 'Jewish'. If you start applying it to anything it really does become hilarious.

That aside he's a wonderfully astute and I think humane writer and I'm thrilled he's won Grin

Thought it was mildly amusing and cleverly written, but having read all of the shortlist was convinced Room would win. Sorry don't hink it deserves the prize

According to The Times this book won by a margin of 3 votes to 2 but does not reveal what the second placed book was. Interesting that it is the first comic novel to win the Booker.
