I loved this book as a child. Have bought it for DS and it is very American. I don't remember it being an American book when I was little....am I right?

How is it very American?

GeraldGiraffe · 08/09/2005 17:53

i don't remember it being particularly american either but i can't see it having intrinsically changed or re written, maybe it just isn't obvious to a child.

In my book, Mrs lambchop's ring rolls across the pavement and they live in a flat - so the language doesn't seem to be. Is it your edition?

he wiggles his toe to blow it back up at the end, as the bicycle pump doesn't quite reach all parts

The pin board that falls on him is called a bulletin board?! Also he gets an invite to stay with a friend in California, and stanley says "oh boy! I would love to go".

Just looked through the book now, and can't actually find any other examples..... Think maybe I imagined it!

Sorry...>!

DS has a Flat Stanley story tape and it's read in an American accent....

marthamoo · 07/11/2005 18:34

Yes, it's American. We have my Mum's copy from when she was teaching and she's pencilled in little changes for when she was reading it out loud - can't remember what they are though.
