Yes I read it ages ago. The bit about Joy's abusive relationship is very realistic, so much wasted time in the hope the relationship will improve, and sad the way she loses confidence and self esteem.

yeah joy's life was sad and a bit trajic and i could relate to it a bit. its got me thinking over my own life now and made me realise just how short life really is!

poor old vince at the end the way Jess had become so different - and then had an affair. I hope they did make it in the end the pair of them together

I read it ages ago, can't remember much now, but it's on the pile of things to re-read and I seem to remember really loving it and it making me go all gooey and daft about exes from long long ago!

I read it ages ago and will definitely re-read it soon! I thought it was so lovely, all the ups and downs of their lives but they never forgot each other and the end was just heartwarming Smile

Is it Lisa Jewell? I recently read 'The Truth about Melody Browne' and it actually made me cry a bit.

I got it free with a magazine once. It introduced me to Lisa Jewell. I'm not usually a chick lit reader, but I've read all her books now and enjoyed them.

Love all of Lisa Jewell's books - Vince and Joy is great. I thought the Truth about Melody Browne was even better. She is definitely getting slightly darker as her writing progresses. She does great 'romances' with a twist....
