I aways find them more memorable than traditional heroic figures. So who's is your favourite?

A couple of mine are Billy Prior in The Regeneration Trilogy (Pat Barker), and Jim Dixon from Lucky Jim.

Any more suggestions? Smile

Ooh, good one.

Steerpike from Gormenghast.

Becky Sharp from Vanity Fair.

Henry and Mary Crawfod - I find myself liking them more and more with each re-read. Sorry Jane Austen!!

fuschiagroan · 05/09/2010 15:08

Oh yeah the Crawfords! MUCH more fun than drippy Edmund and Fanny.

KurriKurri · 05/09/2010 15:15

Oh yes BG - I'd forgotten the Crawford's, - Fanny and Edmund are awful po-faced drips a bit worthy.Grin

Seeing as JKR named him as an anti-hero, I'll say Snape though I believe he is more so the hero of the HP series, rather than Harry, whom I find rather despicable.

No, I loathe Henry Crawford. He's in my worst ever villain category because he's so plausible.

Got to be Scarlett O'Hara.

BelligerentGhoul · 07/09/2010 19:56

Ooh I have just started reading Gone With The Wind for the first time. Have never seen it either, so don't give anything away about why I should love/hate her!

CarmelitaMiggs · 08/09/2010 21:52

Tom Ripley

Raskolnikov Crime & Punishment

KurriKurri · 12/09/2010 22:04

Oh yes Roseability, Raskolnikov is the ultimate isn't he? There's that enjoyable sense of guilt that goes with the fact that you are rooting for someone who has done something so terrible.

Am currently reading GWTW for the first time (knew nothing at all about it other than 'frankly my dear'). Scarlett O Hara is boring the pants off me atm.
