I am re reading this series- started Friday and have read 3 so far.
They are a bit dated now, and ridiculously farfetched, but I'm loving every minute.
No housework scheduled today.....3 more to go.

I love Tales of the City, takes me back to the heady days of the 80's! I've got the DVD too, they are not as good as the books, but provide a good dose of nostalgia every now and again. Darling Mrs Madrigal!

There's nothing like a good 'series' is there? I have been reading Robin Hobb's Farseer and Tawny Man and was howling last night, so much so that DP thought there was something wrong Blush

Loved Tales of the City too.

I read one and immediately searched Ebay and got the rest.

Such fun to have loads of books lined up ready to read.

I gave them all to a friend. I wish I had kept them now.

Ooooh mine are in the loft somewhere must dig them out now! Loved darling Michael.

Oh I am loving them.
I laughed out loud tonight reading the one where DE-DE and D'or go to the Wimmins festival, with all the very earnest lesbians.

I was definitely Team Brian!

NNNgh really want them now!

snigger · 31/08/2010 20:48

Wow, that takes me back. Must go and dig them out.

The only ones I remember are DeeDee and Mary Ann Singleton.

MrsMadWriggle · 01/09/2010 01:57

Love them, love them, love them.

In fact recently namechanged and wanted MrsMadrigal but it was taken but never used, so ended up with this. (Babycakes also taken. I've seen a MaryAnnSingleton on here tho').

I was a little bit disappointed with the latest one, Michael Tolliver Lives. I preferred the third person narrative, multiple (outlandish) storylines approach. Although, oddly, (as a straight woman), I found the gay threesome scene oddly touching. (I have a friend who raved about the book though).

Did you know there is a new book about Mary Ann coming out soon? here. I always found it odd that Armistead Maupin went SO sour on Mary Ann in the later books. (I wondered if she was based on someone in RL). Maybe this is her chance for redemption.

I didn't like Michael Tolliver Lives much either.
I read about the new Mary Ann book- shall be preordering that one from Amazon.
I have now finished the 5th and am on Significant Others today,
(still no housework done, and labels need sewing on school clothes urgently)
