Not sure where else to ask - can't see poetry topic! Am looking for a book of poetry - anthology or single poet - for DF's birthday. He reads masses, but not poetry and given he's very into language and likes interesting turns of phrase, I thought he might like something different.

He particularly likes writers like Terry Pratchett, Tanith Lee and Tolkien if that helps? Any suggestions?

Seeing Stars by Simon Armitage.

Looks like prose. Reads like poetry (he is a poet!) and is very funny and clever.

I LOVE him!

Two good basic anthologies are Oxford book of English Verse and Faber Book of Modern Verse - I think this is available in a paperback.

They will give him lots of tasters so he can get to know which poets he likes then explore further. HTH
