oyu know those books when you keep wanting to ferret off to " fold washing upstairs" and get a chapter in? When you grandly waft your kids away to play so you can read more?
THIS IS THE ONE
i had just finished simon millars fantastic book about Berlin so hey I was rocking the secluded society thing.
This look when you pick it up as a bit dense and heavy going, the cover is a bit, well I dont know the whole thing looks HARd, but it in contrast is a real page turner.
the story of society and change in NK is told through the stories of various families, similar in style to the retelling of any family's fortunes. This human angle adds a lot to the authors obvious knowledge about the country and its people.
Some bit of it are very hard to read - starvation and deprivation lurk in every chapter but even so the resilience of the people in astounding.
I liked it a LOT! can you tell?
