The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton - anyone read it?

I've been struggling on with it for weeks and haven't even made half way. I don't know whether to persevere or just give up.

Anyone else read it?

I read it - was definitely very meh! Know a few people who felt the same - rather self-conscious and clever-clever. I don't feel it's one of those books where getting to the end will really reward the effort. Is structurally quite complex/original which is why I think it got such good reviews (if you're ploughing through several hundred novels a year as a literary hack, this one would stand out for that reason but not sure it's a good enough motive to keep going).

I also read it. I got to the end and wished I hadn't bothered.

Thanks. I feel I now have permission to give up. I don't give up on many books but sometimes it just isn't worth the effort.

Started- read 10 pages, took it back to the library.

I have given up on this, bought to tkae on hols, started it never got past the first 10 pages ! have tried to read it again since got back still got no where ! tis now on the charity shop pile !!

I read this, thought it was great, but then I am a man!
