Yesterday was feeling smutty and read that Belle DeJour call girl book. (read the 2nd one first the day before )

Today went to Oxfam midday and bought 3 books, have read 2 of them (The Flamboya Tree and 'The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency'

Does anyone else get books like this? Once I start reading I just cannot stop.

So thats 4 books in 3 days, which is a record even for me.

Must join the library!

I have phases like this. Oxfam very good for satisfying this craving.

How was that call girl book?!

TotorosOcarina · 21/07/2010 19:19

Pretty crap IMO, I read the 2nd one first so didn't get what she was going on about with regards to her many lovers (names them A1 A2 etc)

But I got bored very quickly, expecially with the first one (read 2nd) and ending up skipping a few paged to get to the next raunchy bit

Gave me a few good ideas I'm sure DH will appreciate but not really a recommended read!

Maybe for holidays

My sister wants to borrow them though!

Oh if only... Pre-children I could read like this. Now I get really frustrated when I can only snatch enough time for about 20 pages a day!

I remember a few years ago devouring that autobiography set in China, can't remember the title, very moving book, it's a big thick green book, about 700 pages, over a bank holiday weekend and thinking how heavenly it was to be able to do that.

Lol Becky, I have 3 under 6 so must be neglecting them

Oh those days are gone for me...

Pre children I could read a book in a few hours but don't get the chance now. I snatch a few pages whilst eating alone, and a few more in bed but usually nod off after a chapter or so.

Thank god for the library and online renewal!

I was half way through a chinese memoir a few days ago and have lost the book!

Written by Da Chen, I think. Can't remember the title!

I love racing into a good book. I've had to give up on Wolf Hall, after a few good months, but got a couple of books from the library. One is The Little Stranger by Sarah Walters which I read in a day and I've Water for Elephants which I'm struggling a bit more.

Keep saying I will ready books instead of going on laptop at night but it never seems to happen!!

TotorosOcarina · 21/07/2010 19:30

this was it, I was enjoying it so hope i find it soon!

I have three DCs too! I read while on the loo, in the bath, in bed, while sitting behind DS3 so he doesn't topple over while he plays (he's 8 months). I read pushing the pushchair to school and back.

I should be reading now as no-one is awake yet and I am. I'm reading a 750-page book at the moment - taking me weeks to get through. I have about 30 'to read' books on my bookshelf as well. I love reading more than I have time to read!

Beckybendylegs - was the chinese one Wild Swans?

bulby · 03/08/2010 15:33

The Chinese book is probably wild swans by Jung cheng (think that's her name). It's a fab read
