WeightWatchers plan changes…again

Just coming on to have a moan really. WW has apparently ‘listened to feedback’ and changed the plan accordingly 🙄 So back we go to what is really more like Slimming World - where salmon, eggs, beans, lentils and so on are all zero points again.

I don’t know why it surprises me, they change the plan around this time every year or two, and seldom for the better. This style of plan doesn’t work for me at all, and I dislike not having the option to stick with what I need - boundaries. It’s all about having a shiny new plan to grab the interest of new customers, and not about what actually works to help people lose weight.

Anyway, moan over. Bah humbug WW.

Try Joe Wicks instead.

Well their whole purpose is to part people from their money for as long as possible. It’s actually not in their interest for people to lose weight and keep it off.

Diets don’t work. Except for companies like WW and SW. And the manufacturers of the crappy snacks and ‘food’ they sell.

Decemberly · 29/11/2022 13:58

I appreciate your point @Peridot1, and of course they are businesses and the priority is profit. I know that. But my frustration is that I have had success with the original WW points plan and lost significant weight and kept it off for 10+ years - so in that regard, the ‘diet’ did work, for me and at that time in my life.

I know it is de rigeur for the majority of posters on Mumsnet to say “diets don’t work”, but this is after all a chat topic dedicated to WeightWatchers so you will find people here who do not subscribe to that way of thinking and need the boundaries a diet plan provides to help lose weight.

I get that @Decemberly and I did WW and lost weight too. For a while. I hadn’t noticed your post was in the WW topic so I apologise for that. I had a huge turn against the diet industry as a whole a few years ago. 30 years of every diet under the sun has left me quite angry. But I shouldn’t have posted like that.

I know a few years ago I got some of the older WW recipe books second hand on eBay. They were the original points plan I think. You might find some and be able to follow the old plan that way.

theswoot · 29/11/2022 15:43

What @Peridot1 said - could you get hold of some previous plan materials and just carry on the old way?

Decemberly · 29/11/2022 16:45

Thanks @Peridot1 - I totally get what totally get what you are saying though, and understand your feelings. ❤️ I don’t think I have been entirely unscathed by my dealings with the diet industry either - I am very much ‘on plan’ or completely off it, and wish I could find a way to be more balanced without having to work so hard at it, if you know what I mean? But I do believe WW used to be more consistent and offer a better product, and I get frustrated with them trying to reinvent the wheel with new versions all the time.

Thanks to you and @theswoot too for your suggestions of getting some of the old books - unfortunately I am very heavily reliant on the app to track points in products, so doing the old plans just turns massively time consuming and unworkable. Never mind, if I give them long enough they’ll recycle the old diet plan again anyway and I’ll be happy with that 😆

So is it back to the old blue plan or not?
And have they improved the app as over it had become to crowded to navigate?

Grimchmas · 08/12/2022 04:30

Would switching to calorie counting work for you?

Crosswithlifeatm · 08/12/2022 04:43

I think I may have to.Also WW has become expensive.
I was doing alright until they changed to the different coloured plans and earning back points. The app was simpler and easy to use too and I had all my recipes in which didn't fit the new plan .
I also liked tracking ahead as I stuck to it more easily.

I just trued to cancel my membership for the same reason. I did SW fir years. Red and Green gave me good boundaries and habits I just can't work Extra Easy. I joined last year and Personal Points has been great now its just SW so I tried to leave and they gave me 2 months free but I'm just doing my own thing now without the tequilas weigh in and group support I like (and need)

Tontostitis · 17/12/2022 20:15

Regular not tequilas 😃
