Never been on a diet

I'm 58 and have never been on a diet, I have always eaten anything not always healthy but my mantra to say I'm full, I weighed 8 .7 stone when I found out I was pregnant both times put on 1 stone and week after back to 8 stone. I have never gone on a diet as I've always felt its just other ways of parting women with their money like all the creams potions etc. Now I have a long term health condition and due to torn ligaments and fluid on knees and ankle have been bedridden for 3 years due to the gps taking 3 years to sort out mri. On slow release morphine, liquid morphine plus steroids and have put on weight all due to the medication. I can't exercise as in agony 24/7 even with morphine I barely eat anything so can't decrease what I eat. The only way I know to lose weight is to stop taking the steroids but this would be fatal due to the condition I have..If I start to be sick its a 999 call and I'm admitted to hospital for around 9 days on iv fluids, meds anyone have any ideas how I can lose weight without it being fatal

I take oramorph and slow release morphine but have recently tapered off steroids after 3 years

I didn't bother trying to lose weight on steroids- and still take a biologic that increases weight but have gone low carb now I'm off the steroids

I don't know how you'd lose weight without dropping calories particularly with the steroid interference.

Are you likely to reduce the steroids at any time?

Is there a Facebook group for your condition? Others with the same might have ideas

Or is it possible to get a referral to a dietician?

No chance of reducing steroids as I have Addisons Disease so have no cortisol which regulates all your hormones and is a serious stress disease. I asked gp if there was anything I could take, the only thing was a medication that just gives you the runs constantly. I don't have any cards as they give me serious stomach ache as I have its and other stomach problems too

Sounds so tough

Maybe now is not the time to focus on weight, but focus on convalescing

Eat good foods that agree with you, nourish yourself, be kind to yourself

Your weight gain is a side effect

Is there a chance if you getting better and coming off steroids eventually?

Take care
