Confused by ww!

I have just given in to the idea I can't do this myself. I've been sitting with an extra stone for 1.5 years. It was worse, I did manage to lose some weight last year, but I've plateaued for months now, so I joined ww.

I'm on the green plan, but I don't know what this means. I've also been give 31 points daily and have nothing to compare that to. I expected a food counter where you could put in things like a baked piece of salmon and veg, or two eggs and veg, but all the options seem to be meals they've designed. What am I missing?

I found my list of free foods, so this morning I sautéed a courgette and some mushrooms in a low calorie spray, seasoned with herbs and spices, added some tinned tomatoes and then two eggs. How do I count this?

Also one of my big problems is portion control. Can I really eat an unlimited amount of these zero points foods?

This board doesn't seem very active so if anyone knows of a better board I'd be glad to hear about it.

Apologies for all the questions!

All the foods have a points value according to the plan you are on. It’s all on the website and app - if you can’t find it use the chat function to ask the help desk to direct you. (Or if you are using the linear programme if it will all be in the written bumph they send you.)

Re free foods. You can make free with non starchy veg - and do do that to fill you up - but if portion control is an issue for you check the calorie content of the other free foods, and have extra portions of the lower calorie stuff.

And make sure you have protein at every meal.

Good luck!

Thanks @partyatthepalace! I will look for the chat function.

I think it’s a total confusion for the first couple weeks Grin the app search function is good for finding ingredients and not just recipes.
It’s changed the way I eat and has been effective. E.g. I’ve stopped hoovering up a load of marmalade toast for breakfast and switched to fat free Greek yogurt, honey and berries because then it’s just two points. I also snack less readily knowing I’ll have to account for it.
It’s less about micro focus and more about changing overall habits.
Planning and entering your three meals the evening before or in the morning has been very helpful for me. X

Thanks, I haven't yet had a response to my chat request but it is a bank holiday weekend. It's good to know I can expect there to be some lag time as I learn to navigate the site.

They will get back to you

Are you on the App? If you are it has an internal social network - for speed if you post on it and ask where the list is anyone will tell you

I find the Facebook ww groups helpful for tips though most dont allow questions about how many points in an item. I get 28 points a day on green which I think is as low as it goes (probably my age!)

dudsville · 11/04/2021 01:55

Thanks Wilma55, I'm not on fb sadly so I just need to stick with whatever I can town from the app. It is annoying as I'm having to choose things that are similar but aren't exactly what I've eaten and I'm sure that will cause me trouble down the road. I'm annoyed by how much they presume I'll be making their recipes.

Hi, you don’t have to cook ww meals, just type in your ingredients and there you go. Personally I find blue easier as there is more choice of zero pointed foods. You don’t have to scan anything with zero points but should keep an eye on the portion size. If you have connect on the app then have a look at app academy for some of the workshops also if you can get onto a virtual workshop you will find lots of ideas for other members.
Don’t forget to use your weekly points, that is what they are there for and if you don’t use all your daily points then up to 4 each day will be added to your weeklies.
Hope this helps a little

hi @Wilma55 did anyone ever get back to you? I am on WW (purple) and use the app a lot, so if you still aren't sure feel free to PM me. I cook from scratch quite a bit and have never used one of their recipies, but I build my own in the app the first time I make it, and then just edit as required when I cook it again. Just give me a shout if there is anything you aren't sure of.

My problem with the app that I haven't asked anyone about yet is if I accidentally add something under 'dinner' that I had for lunch, I can't see a way to move it without deleting and recreating it. Now that is a faff I want to fix!

@Wotsitsarecheesy if you track foods in the wrong place - just click on the item you want to change on the "my day" page. Click on it again. Then change it to where you want it to be. Then click save x
