Terrible experience at group has put me off

Don’t know if I’m wrong but I feel so disappointed in my experience of joining ww a couple of days ago.

Went to group, filled out the forms. Was weighed and given a couple of leaflets. Wasn’t told about the plan or even how many points I should have.

Messaged the class leader and she’s been quite rude and dismissive. Definitely won’t be going back to that group and now don’t know what to do.

I’ve no idea what I’m doing so I’ve paid the weekly fee for nothing it seems!

Really disheartened Sad

Thinking maybe write off the group fee I paid and join online? Anyone got any advice?Cake

You could get in touch with WW online to tell them what happened, and express your disappointment. Ask them if they can do anything to help you otherwise you're off to a competitor! They'll be glad to know what's happening.

Call Weightwatchers and ask them for the details of another local group to transfer to.

You should have been given a new members talk.

I had a similar experience at slimming world recently. I complained to head office and got my money back. The thing is, I had attended SW years ago with another group and got on really well. Perhaps try another group? Online is great, but a group gives accountability and social support - when it’s a good group.

Alternatively start an accountability thread and get the support for free on here.

Good luck OP

That is shocking, I would definitely complain. Many, many years ago I was a 'Leader' for WW and we always did a 'new members talk' at the end of the meeting where we explained how the plan worked, how the number of points was arrived at etc etc. I also always gave members my cell phone number and told them they were free to contact me between certain hours every day - i was also working FT.

It is so difficult to walk through the door and attend a meeting and the leaders (or whatever they are called now) should be the first to realise that.

Sadly I am a few pounds overweight and have re-joined WW on-line and am loving the app and the new plan, which is completely different to how WW used to be. If you decide to join on-line there is a link below where you can get a free month if you join on the link. I also get a few month if you use it and it definitely works, as I joined on someone else's link and have just had the free month credited.

I hope you find group who will welcome you and wish you all the best - it is bloody tough this dieting businessSmile

I would try a different group and also complain. My meeting had a new members talk at the end of it.

Thanks everyone. I didn’t think I was overreacting.

I’ve had an email from head office to say they will be speaking to the area manager about this.

The lady who runs the group has now been ignoring my messages for over 24 hours so I’ve messaged her again to say that I’ve emailed head office. I’ve also told her (very politely) that I think she’s been terribly rude.

Good luck to all of you with your ww journey CakeBlush

I'm glad you've escalated it, no-one should have that experience.

My WW leader is lovely, without fail every new member has an individual chat to explain the WW ethos, the points system and tracking. It's the leaders job to explain all of this, otherwise how do you know what you're supposed to do?

Good luck with your weight loss, I lost 2.5stone three years ago, and have kept it off by still attending meetings and staying in touch with my WW group (it's free once you're at goal).

LagunaBubbles · 27/01/2019 20:18

Definitely go to another group. Paying for meetings gives you access to all the online facilities to.
