Hi everyone. I have just signed up to weight watchers online. It has put me on the flex plan I think. I've read through the info etc and entered all my details and it has given me 26 points a day.
I have been reading a lot about both weight watchers and slimming world but went for Wright watchers as they had an offer online and I could pay monthly. Slimming world you have to pay 3 Months uo front and I couldn't afford that at the moment.
Having tried to follow the plan for the last few days I'm really struggling with the points. Due to very fussy children I would say a good 60% of our meals are rice or pasta based which on slimming world seemed fine as they were a free food so you could eat them. However on Wright watchers I am finding that everything except fruit, veg, lentils and brand are zero foods and everything else is pointed. Even done to Wright watchers own low fat low calorie yoghurts. I'm not a huge fan of plain yoghurt and now I have to point even fat free flavoured yoghurt.
Am I doing something wrong? I thought slimming world worked well to fit in with my lifestyle and I was hoping for the same from weight watchers but it seems not.
I really want to give it a go but I just can't see myself been able to make many meals which will suit the whole family - I really can't afford to be making separate meals for everyone. I'm sure when I did weight watchers years ago it was easier than this and the meals were more family friendly.

I've been doing weight watchers for about 10 weeks. I'm on 23 points a day and 28 weeklies. I started by eating what I normally eat but adjusting it so it was less points. For example, instead of 4 fish fingers I'll have 3. No spread when I have a sandwich. Make use of the free foods, I tend to have eggs for lunch as these are zero points, if you have a chicken salad, then as long as the chicken is breast it's zero points. I'm still eating the same meals as I was eating before, just adapted or smaller portions. I don't buy flavoured yoghurt now I get the fat free plain yoghurt as it's zero points and put my own fruit in as it's zero as well. Have you got Facebook? There are a few groups on there you could join, they're there to help and have really good ideas.
Don't give up, it is overwhelming to start off with but you'll get there. I've lost 1 stone 3lbs so far and I've not really made any major changes.

Thank you for replying. I guess I just need to change my mindset and eating habits. I can see there is a lot of scope for free foods, currently I buy Covent Garden soups for work but they are quite high in points. I think from next week I shall be making my own which I used to do just don't have a lot of time in the week so maybe need to try batch cooking them at the weekend. I can't eat salad until the weather warms up I just never feel like it in the winter, except on the side of a meal. I shall try the fruit in plain yoghurt. Although I was actually thinking of doing this as overnight oats for breakfast ideas in the week as I eat my breakfast at work so can't have toast or eggs etc... or anything that needs cooking. Think it may take me a few weeks to get adjusted to this new way of eating.
Thank you. I'll check out the Facebook groups x

Hi, I joined weight watchers 6 weeks ago and I've lost a stone already. I love the plan and I also have children so as pp said I just adjusted portions. I've never been healthier as I am right now, I absolutely love it. You can fill up on lots of zero foods throughout the day such as greek yoghurt with fruit = zero, tuna, sweetcorn salad = zero and then have a pointed tea using 20point if you like. The sub pizzas from Aldi are 9p so that with butternut squash waffles cooked in the oven with salt and pepper is a good tea and under 10p. Then if I'm still peckish I will have some Aldi Fries Crisp which are 2p and and options chocolate drink at 2p. Definitely join a FB group, loads of ideas on there, I recently saw a recipe for 1p onion bahjis. I have also made cod chips and curry sauce for 6p. Don't give up, once you get into it you will never look back. The app is amazing. Good luck on your journey x

I’ve been going to WW for a few weeks and have struggled a bit too. The best way is to make sure either your breakfast or lunch is very low points, so you can use the saved points for carbs with dinner.

I eat at my desk too: For breakfast I have instant porridge and fruit (5p) and lunch is homemade soup and 2 slice low cal bread (4p) or a big salad with boiled eggs and either tuna, prawns or turkey , tbsp of mayo (2-3p).
This leaves more points for the evening. It’s not easy and I am losing really slowly. But that’s because my willpower evaporates on Saturdays! Good luck!

Thanks all for responding! Some great ideas there! I have joined some Facebook groups and started following some of the big weight watchers members on Instagram for inspiration lol.
Iamyourequal you sound very much like me, all week is fine as I'm at work and now I've found I can have overnight oats for 3sp (plain soya milk, porridge oats and frozen berries) for breakfast I'm pretty happy. I'll have egg when I'm at home to make the most of the zero food. I've also decided to make my own soup for lunches so I've got some recipes down to 0pts in the app so that's good! When the weather warms up I'll do more salads. Evening meals are still difficult but as advised I've just cut my portion down. The weekends are my downfall, we are child free all weekend (doesn't happen often maybe every 3 Months) so I know this weekend will be full of eating out and sitting up late watching movies and eating junk food. I'm just going to try and not go overboard, have a tonne of wine here too but resisting the urge to open one this weekend. I drink rose so definitely not the best one point wise o should imagine.
I weighed myself today and I've lost 2lb since Monday so I'm quite pleased with that. I expect I'll put that back on over the weekend but as I said this is a one off x
