Stuff propoints... I'm going vintage.

I have 10 weeks to lose weight and the propoints just doesn't seem to work for me. I got to goal on the old points and lost more, more consistently with points.

Each to their own, and all that.

So I've dug out my old (old) books and am going for it.

I have 10 weeks to lose what I can to start with to
a) undo the damage that I have done last year, putting on a stone
b) get ready for an operation date.

Hi Hun I am
Thinking the same. What was the old points system called as il have to get books from eBay ? X

KinkyAfro · 08/07/2015 16:51

Don't really know what the difference is. The new points + weeklies = the same amount of calories you got on old points Confused

MonkeyPJs · 19/07/2015 10:37

Me too! Can I join? I'm the same - the old point s worked for me back in 2003 (!) and am not having much luck with the new method. In fact, I'll start tomorrow... wish me luck!

One old plan was called discovery plan or there was 124 success. Im getting the feeling like you ladies, am following sw at present but not happy with it.
Kinky, if the daily + weeklies are = to old system would it be safe to say 33 points a day (26 + 7 weeklies)& carry over any left? But have less fruit as old system made you count it.

annielostit · 20/07/2015 21:20

That's 123 success, Smile

MonkeyPJs · 21/07/2015 10:18

I like fruit being free - that's the only thing I like about the new points. I think i just knew the old system so well, and the new system hasn't really sunk in yet

WhenMarnieWasThere · 22/07/2015 21:11

I knew the old system, inside and out. And found it simpler.

Each point was worth about 70 cals and I used to get 22. 1540 cals approx. Extra cals from the free veg.

Each new point is worth about 40 cals (is that right?) and I got 27+7 daily if the weeklies were spread out. 1360 cals. The difference being that they expected you to then eat fruit as well as veg for 'free' so they had taken away some of the cals you were allowed to cover for that.

I got to goal on 123 success. Then the plan changed and I just started to struggle. I eat plenty of veg, but don't tend to eat much fruit, so I really missed the cals they took away from me to allow me to snack on that freely. Carby food, which I had no problem including in my healthy week and still lose weight, were now relatively more 'expensive' and the meals I ate to get to goal now meant I didn't have enough points left for my other meals.

I think it appealed to those who like the slimming world way and they were trying to bridge a gap. And I know that it works for lots.

What I didn't like was the fact that suddenly there were more discussions about why people hadn't lost weight that week. And lots of discussions online about whether people should or shouldn't eat their weeklies.

I'm going to dig out the books & see how I get on for a few weeks.

RedNailPolish101 · 17/09/2015 16:41

Few months late but I tried the new and hated it... Think I was stuck on the old system which I had lost a great deal of weight on. Few months ago I gave it another try and I know love it!

ouryve · 17/09/2015 16:47

The new (then) points system was the end of weightwatchers for me. I was losing, albeit slowly, while eating a normal, maintainable diet that the kids wouldn't see as odd but found it impossible to stay within points on the new system. It really goes against you if you refuse to eat low fat versions of things.

annielostit · 18/09/2015 15:35

Well, times past and I tried and failed the vintage.
I think I've might have this new propoints thing sorted in my head now??
I have 35 points a day (that's with the weeklies divided in) and carry over what's left. That way I don't get scared I'm going to run out of points.
This week has been a discovery of real food for me. No diet food and real bread & butter.

RedNailPolish101 · 18/09/2015 19:37

The lack of bread, butter and cheese really gets me :) I love love love cheese! But discovered a slow cooker and the flavour you changer into very boring chicken breast is quite amazing x I get 31 each day plus the weeklies and have been using my weeklies for a slither of Brie, bread butter and a massive glass of wine!!!
