Simple Start vs. Points vs. F&H- Can you skip Simple Start?

I followed weightwatchers a while ago - I usually counted points during the week and then switched to F&H on a weekend. I haven't joined a group yet as this may not actually be for me and wanted to do my own trial run first. I have done some research on 'Simple Start' - I don't think I would last a week if I had to start with this approach. From the reading I've done though on this site and other sites people are starting off doing this plan and then switching to F&H or points after two weeks. I would have liked to have followed the old way I used to do it unless its really recommended doing simple start first????? Is it still ok to pick and chose whether a day is points or F&H or is one plan or the other recommended? Do any newbies skip simple start altogether and do a mixture of the other two plans and still have good weight losses? Or are leaders really recommending simple start first? Thanks in advance for any advice

It sounds as though leaders at meetings (or at least some of them) are insisting on simple start. I'm doing the online version so went straight onto counting points which suits me better as I've done it before. Isn't simple start basically the same as f&h with specific "allowed" treats instead of extra weekly points?

Thanks for responding. I'm going to join online and do a mix of points and f&h days (If you can do that!). Its the idea of 'selected treats' that puts me off simple start. Thanks again x

I just started WW 3 weeks ago and yes they push simple start for the first 2 weeks. I hated it immediately for the same reasons as you. I just do my own thing and am losing weight ok.

Thanks sillysarah. Joined online today so going to do a mix of pp and f&h days.

I joined last sat, having previously done WW, and my leader asked me to try simple start, which I did. Once I got into it, it was surprising easy, although I felt like I was eating the same thing over and over, baked potato/pasta.

I get weighed at nine, so will reserve my verdict until then.

Yes I agree that simple start could send me on a binge of crumpets and potatoes. Sticking with my daily 26. Weigh day wednesday

They make you do simple start as a way of delaying giving you the full pack of info. Loads of people go to one meeting, get all the info and never turn up again. With simple start they are delaying you doing this and getting three classes paid for instead of one.

I did SS last week, and lost 6lbs, the most I've lost in one week at WW (having previously done it loads) leader said I could count, or do F&H or a mix of both. But now I would also have my 49 weekly.

Going to start with F&H but know I have the option to count.

I've started online and gone straight into counting points. I've done WW before. My friend is doing simple start and hating it!

I started out counting points but just for a bit of a change (as I found I was eating the same things all the time!) I've had more filling and healthy days - usually 3 days a week. Have to say I love it and really enjoying my food. 7 weeks in and I've lost 12.8lbs so far Smile
