Sorry, horrible grammar.

Welcome @lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines and happy Sunday everyone.

Mixed success this week with my Change of the Week (no eating after 7pm) as I went to badminton with a friend on Friday night so ate my dinner late. But ive been eating late at night pretty much every day since Easter! Let's see if tomorrow shows anything on the scales.

Sounds like fab prep @thenewaveragebear1983. Getting organised gives me a boost. I've been feeling super overwhelmed with the state of the house. It's so cluttered and I just don't know where to start. This weekend I've sorted the kids rooms which makes no overall difference to the house but means there are two rooms I can walk into without going "ffs". Not much to do with weight loss tbh except that feeling uncomfortable makes me want to eat.

ps pleased to hear about your running @Theredjellybean i remember from this thread last winter you were missing it! I dragged myself to parkrun in torrential sideways rain on Saturday, inspired by you!

lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines · 06/08/2023 19:38

Hi @thenewaveragebear1983 and @Zebracat
I plan to weigh myself in the morning but strongly suspect I’ve crept up to the 15st mark, perhaps below, but I’m not sure. I just feel like a slug, zero energy and little motivation as I find exercise hurts. I know it will get easier. I’m contemplating going to my GP as I have some issues that correlate to either Perimenopause or thyroid.
I don’t know whether to go all in or make small changes as I have lost weight in the past but have never kept it off. I thought that coming on here for some virtual support might spur me on a bit

triplecheeese · 06/08/2023 20:07

lots of different approaches on this thread @lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines - many more disciplined than me - but all supported! I have had success before with introducing one change at a time then they accumulate which I'm trying again. But I get easily daunted so have to do it that way or I'll just get stressed and give up.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/08/2023 20:19

@lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines the peri/thyroid thing is very hot on my agenda at the moment and I totally empathise with how you feel. It’s interesting how much crossover there is between the two conditions as well. How old are you? I would say definitely go to your GP and request those bloods to start with. I’ve been feeling crap for 18 months now and it’s taken that long for me to get anywhere so the sooner you ask, the better.

@triplecheeese i love a good clear out, and it really makes me feel ‘lighter’ somehow. It’s a nice, very satisfying feeling to have made a dent in in, however small. I’m currently staring at the bags of holiday clothes that need unpacked and sorted and washed and put away and it seems overwhelming….

Theredjellybean · 06/08/2023 20:22

@triplecheeese ... well done on the run
I'm edging back into running and training for a half marathon...loving running again..it's not doing much for weight loss though

Ledochas · 06/08/2023 21:53

Well done anyone running and getting organised for week ahead. Both things I applaud.

I did a Caroline Girvan 15 min arms dumbbell workout today and yesterday. My 3 year old joined in both days which was cute. Anyone follow her? Will try to keep it going this week.

Weighing in tomorrow. Have been eating lots of salad and protein but my daily weighs aren't showing much movement... let's see.
Had chicken salad and loads of continental meats from a platter thingy at lunchtime and really filled me up for rest of the day so really should try to have a heavier protein lunch I think (well sample of 1 day...).

lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines · 06/08/2023 22:10

@triplecheeese it’s exactly that with me, I go for it and it’s not sustainable. I think I may be better off with smaller changes to my routine, such as to break some snacking habits I know can’t be helping!
@thenewaveragebear1983 I’ve just turned 36 but my DM went through early menopause which is why it’s on my radar. I haven’t been quite right since having my second baby 3.5 years ago.

I totally get how the untidy house can affect things…my house is a shit tip most of the time and I get easily overwhelmed by it. I find when I keep myself busy by sorting things, I snack a lot less and feel calmer, which means I don’t emotionally eat as much.

triplecheeese · 06/08/2023 22:45

Totally agree with that @lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines. Although I just undid my good work eating biscuits while watching Your Home Made Perfect and resenting their nice (tidy) houses.

@Ledochas i am a recent convert to the wonderful Caroline Girvan. My 4yo likes her too! The toddler just likes rolling my dumbbells under the sofa when I'm not looking. I just started Iron - sort of because I can't do 5 workouts a week, so I'll do 3 and take a lot longer about it.

love that you're back out there @Theredjellybean. I was doing longer distances in the spring but it went out the window!

effiesgoldwig · 06/08/2023 22:52

@lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines that resonates a lot with me too - my house is always a mess and it makes me miserable and eat more. I've been decorating the house this week and I swear even with all the paint tins and tools still lying around it's actually tidier than normal because I've had to clear the junk out in order to paint!

I'm fairly sure I'm a pound up again so back to 14st13 for the 3rd week in a row. I'm on school holidays at the moment and am actually finding it harder than being in work not to reach for sweet treats and goodies as the cupboards are full with stuff for the kids.

It's really just damage limitation at the moment and staying on track whilst still trying to enjoy the holiday.

Oh and you have a birthday then every man and his dog (the garden centre, coffee shop etc) sends you a voucher for free cake! I have managed to resist so far but they're valid til the end of august!

poorpaws · 07/08/2023 07:56

Good morning everyone

I've lost half a pound this week taking me to 10 sts 11.5 lbs, damn that blackberry and apple crumble. I'm not actually too upset because I've had two good weight loss weeks prior to this so I suppose a third was wishful thinking.

I hope everyone weighing today has a really good weigh-in. I've got a dental appointment at a new dentist and then because I'll be in town anyway I will more than likely give in to the many flavoured ice cream parlour.

Have a lovely Monday everyone, it's a sunny day today ☀️

I only lost one measly pound this week. I’m very 😡

I think I will blame the shit weather.

Still in terms of fat, that’s two packs of butter, and is still progress.

Have a good week everyone.

lifestooshorttodickaboutwithaubergines · 07/08/2023 09:02

Morning all!
So I braved the scales for the first time in months and had been a little generous in my estimations - weighed in at 14st 3lbs (and a quarter)
I’ve decided to set little short term
goals as ideally I would like to lose about three and a half stones, but that seems quite scary. So first goal is half a stone, and take it from there!
I woke up and had a glass of water, which I never usually do so I want to aim for that as a little change, had plain porridge for my breakfast, onto the second washload, emptied and restacked the dishwasher and going to get ready and go for a nice ramble with my little boys, then maybe take them swimming later.

@effiesgoldwig I can relate to almost everything you wrote there. I am also on summer hols and although I usually raid the biscuit barrel at work, I’m even worse at home! We are decorating this week too but there’s stuff everywhere and it’s doing my head in. Whenever I feel overwhelmed I stuck a wash load on…I figure the machine does the hard work yet you still feel
like you’ve achieved something. Putting it away however…😬

Zebracat · 07/08/2023 09:58

Good morning all. 94.8 this morning, so I have lost a kilo. I am very pleased with that, but mystified that I’m still dicking about at around 15 stone. I have therefore made a plan. Not a very good one, but still. It mainly involves more of the same. I have a physio appointment tomorrow and I will find out if I can increase the walking. I intend to take on the cooking at least 3 nights a week, and do plant based meals. Limit snacks/ treats to 1 small item a day, or have none. My target is 93 kilos by the end of this month, and 91 by the 3rd week in September, when I go on holiday. So essentially, that’s a pound a week, which , week after week is a good loss. And then I will be firmly in the 14 stone something category, and under 200 pounds, with 90 kilos in spitting distance and closer to overweight rather than obese. Trying to gee myself up here. I will inevitably gain some weight on holiday, but if I limit that to a kilo, I can push on and be around 85 by Christmas. I do not want to start another year in the obese category. I feel like time is running out for me.

Ledochas · 07/08/2023 13:33

Morning all,
Weighed this morning at 164.2lb which is exactly a 10lb loss since I kicked myself up the bum four weeks ago. When I think of it in those terms I feel positive. The 150s are now closer than the damned 170s I couldn't get away from for months.

I have had a pretty restrictive 3-4 days which have helped with the loss but have felt very limiting food-wise. Need to keep going though as a bad week would see me back around 168 in no time. And had two slices of sourdough this morning when eating breakfast out so that's got to be the treat for today!

This week I'm hoping to celebrate moving from 'obese' to 'overweight'... I don't massively believe in BMI but I would still like to hit that milestone which is only an elusive 0.2lb away. Onwards and downwards we hope... congrats to anyone weighing today, any loss is a loss to be celebrated.

Ledochas · 07/08/2023 13:50

@triplecheeese had a quick look at Iron, is it all weights rather than any cardio? I like the 15 min dumbbell ones so might give Iron a go too, would be good to follow through a programme. Seems like Caroline has universal appeal to all ages!!

triplecheeese · 07/08/2023 16:29

@Ledochas yes it seems to be all weights so far which suits me. She also has an "epic beginner" 30 min Epic full body dumbbell workout - look up epic beginner Day 4 on YT!

well done on your progress and good luck for breaking that barrier!

have a great week everyone. I have lost half a pound like my twin @poorpaws which I will gladly accept!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/08/2023 21:35

I’ve had a good day today, I ended up on exactly 1500 cals and 65g carbs. Yesterday was also really good and I stayed on track. I’ve eaten no sugar or any processed food at all. Of course as a result I have a stinking detox headache and feel really tired 🥱 I’ve drunk loads of water and hopefully will feel less groggy in the morning.

saw my gp today about my thyroid and after a very long consultation, she has said she thinks I’m perimenopausal instead and I am going back next week to be put on HRT. They will still test my thyroid again in 3 months but she thinks HRT will help me more. So I’m now very confused and have a lot of options to consider.

poorpaws · 08/08/2023 07:52

Good morning everyone

I gave in to temptation yesterday and had the three ice creams. I really enjoyed them and it's a treat. We go four times a year at the most and since I never go on holiday, I treat these days in town with ice cream as a holiday, so I don't feel guilty.

I've been eating a lot less every evening (my danger zone time). Last night, because I'd eaten more in the day, I was so hungry in the evening. It seems the more I eat in the day, the more I want to eat at night. Does anyone else suffer from this? I didn't have time for my exercise routine either but I'll get back to it today. I fear progress will be slow but there's plenty of time left this year. I would like to go into next year a lot lighter 🙊

Have a good day everyone. It's cold and miserable here. Will someone please inform the weather gods that it is AUGUST!

Zebracat · 08/08/2023 09:22

Morning. Yes, poorpaws, the more I eat, the more I want. Sounds like you didn’t though. Sounds like you are owning your choices so that’s good.I’ve put on a kilo overnight for no good reason at all, altho I did have a little bit of blackberry crumble.. I feel like taping my mouth until I’ve been under 95 for a week. So frustrating. I just don’t want to see that number again.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/08/2023 20:40

I get that too @poorpaws and @Zebracat - I’m sure I read somewhere it’s to do with insulin resistance.

It’s my third day detoxing off my week off gluttony- no bread or dairy or sugar. Tuesday is my office day, it was a looooooong day and I feel really tired. However, I did not crash out into a mindless feast like I do most Tuesdays. I went for a walk with dh and then made dinner and ate, didn’t spoil my appetite with snacking or fruit before dinner. I’ve got a stinking headache for my effort though, to be expected I guess. Must drink more water 💦

TalkToTheHand123 · 08/08/2023 22:32

Hi all. I've spent all day fighting the urge for a takeaway (I only managed to succeed as I couldn't decide what to have), a few pieces of rye bread getting me through. The joys of dieting 😂

triplecheeese · 08/08/2023 22:44

Good luck @thenewaveragebear1983 i admire your willpower! I've only done a sugar reduction diet once and the headaches did go by day 5 but it was miserable. We believe in you!

Ice cream sounds fab @poorpaws And you've given me a hankering for crumble @Zebracat

well done @TalkToTheHand123, DH talked me out of a takeaway today, which has never happened in our entire relationship. I suppose I should be grateful but I wanted a chicken shish 😂

Made it to the gym this morning but feeling sore and tired and overate this evening. I guess I need to increase my protein if I'm doing weightlifting but it doesn't seem to fill me up like other people say and I eat just as much 😂

Think I'm just in a gloom. I know I'll feel better for exercising regularly, and i need to remind myself that it is worth banishing the fat back. I saw myself side on in the gym and I looked like an accordion.

Zebracat · 08/08/2023 23:04

Today I have eaten porridge, butternut squash soup and salad. I should feel really pleased with myself but I just feel hungry. I stayed within calories and kept active.I should feel pleased with myself but Im hungry and grumpy. Full6 expect t9 wake-up weighing 10 stone tomorrow!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/08/2023 07:43

@triplecheeese I hope so, today is day 4. I felt quite wide awake last night as a result of probably lower calories and fewer carbs, but once I did fall asleep I must have slept so deeply. One early benefit of ditching the sugar! I did a year or so sugar free after lockdown, I was the healthiest and happiest I have ever been.

today I have another round of blood tests this morning, all this dipping out of work for appointments is so annoying, hopefully this will be the last one. I’ve been for a run, it’s beautiful out there and sunny, but it feels autumnal and dewy. The forecast is nice for the next few days so I am really looking forward to a vitamin d boost and some rays.

I did baked potatoes in my air fryer yesterday (microwaved til soft, rubbed with oil, crisp in the air fryer) so I have one for my lunch today, with prawn mayo and salad. I’m not sure what to have for breakfast, I may wait and just have lunch early. Dinner will be chicken with spicy coconut sauce, cauliflower rice and veg.

I’m feeling quite positive today. Hope the sun shines for you all ☀️ ☀️ ☀️
