Oh my, the best laid plans ...

I was doing so well until today, so well! We went on a long dog walk (16,000 steps) and ended up in town. The joy (disaster) of living in a tourist area is the ice cream, large many flavoured (80 flavours in this instance) ice creams! We needed to sit down but what we didn't need was the three different flavoured triple cones (they were so good) and only one day before weigh-in 🙈 bugger!

As long as it was salted caramel, banana, and chocolate @poorpaws , you are forgiven. Anything bubblegum related and I can’t allow it on the thread I’m afraid

effiesgoldwig · 02/07/2023 15:37

I'd say only eating 3 flavours out of 80 is a win to be honest. 77flavours successfully not eaten.

poorpaws · 02/07/2023 16:28

@thenewaveragebear1983 @effiesgoldwig you both made me laugh so much.

The flavours were coconut in the bottom, then Daim bar, and on top a new one, peanut butter and caramel with chocolate swirled through. All were delicious and I don't even like peanut butter but the ice cream parlour lady (who knows me from previous pig outs) recommended it.

There were several people in the little shop and one lady gasped as the ice creams were passed to me and another lady smiled and admitted she fancied the same.

I've had no lunch to compensate but I'm foregoing my exercises too as it was a very long walk and I'm shattered, so I'm declaring this a day off. I can't wait for dinner, I'm hungry now.

@thenewaveragebear1983 does the ice cream pass your test, I don't like banana. I love coconut ice cream and chocolate and about 70 other flavours. I keep telling the owner I'm going to try every one of them, she actually has (and she's thin).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/07/2023 16:40

I wouldn’t have the coconut, but I do love banana - especially lurid yellow, synthetic, Banana flavoured anything- and it would go very nicely with your Daim bar and your snickers ensemble!
Far better to have one delicious treat that you genuinely enjoy than lots of half nice things that don’t quite hit the spot.

Theredjellybean · 02/07/2023 18:47

I don't like ice cream which seriously helps as I also live in tourist place full of fudge and ice cream.
However what I do like is clotted cream....mmmm......

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 07:41

I am so disappointed. Yesterday, before the ice cream, I weighed 10 stone 11.25. No matter how many times I step on those scales I am 10 stone 12.75 lbs, that's just .75 or 3/4 of a pound off in a week of really trying.

Trying to be positive, it is 4.75 lbs off in three weeks. Back to the healthy eating today.

I really am staying positive because some time ago I was gaining most weeks so any loss is good but I'm having to try really hard to lose any weight and it's soul destroying.

Good luck to fellow weighers today.

Try not to be disappointed @poorpaws . 0.75lbs a week, every week, is over 2.5st in a year, which is a substantial loss. I’m like you, I’d be miffed by “only” 0.75lbs but if we let that sabotage us we won’t get there. It is a cliche but slow and steady will win the race. And if you can get weight off at that rate and in a year, or even 6 months, be at your goal, while still enjoying your food and having a treat, then that is sustainable long term weight loss.

I weighed in at 11.2 this morning, 156lbs. A pretty much maintain for last week although I did dip a lot lower, I then went completely off the rails all weekend and ate loads of junk 🤷‍♀️ I think my body needed it though, I felt so unwell all weekend and my period arrived as well so it was the perfect storm. I feel much better this morning. Ran with my friend. Breakfast of green yoghurt and frozen fruit. I’m in the office this morning to train some new starters so I will eat my lunch when I get home and not take anything with me. I made lentil pasta salad but it wasn’t actually that nice, and I find lentils too carby for a ‘protein source’ tbh. I might give it a miss and have something else. Dinner will be chicken thighs in a traybake with veggies.

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 08:35

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you, I'm ok now. When I started this diet/healthy eating absolutely ages ago I promised myself that even if I lost a quarter of a pound in a week I'd be happy, because the scales would still be going down.

I have just less than a stone to lose now and the first stone and a few pounds were so much easier than this last one. I've yo-yoed and messed about with the last stone loss for long enough. I'd actually be happy with just half a stone off but we'll see.

A maintain is ok and next week you could lose a big chunk of weight, who knows, every week is different. If I remember you are much taller than me (5' 8"?) I'm 5' 4" so the weight shows, especially since it's nearly all around my middle.

We just have to keep on and if I lose just a quarter of a pound next week I'll take it!

Zebracat · 03/07/2023 10:02

I’ve gained a kilo this week😢96.1 . Only myself to blame though. Ice cream Mars bars and chocolate cake. I will try to do better. It’s my birthday on Friday and there will be chocolate, cos thats allowed, but I will try to be strict before hand.

instantpotnoodle · 03/07/2023 11:06

Morning, down 0.5kg this week which I’m pleased with as the scales have been stubbornly stuck!

now 71.9kg

anyone else stepping on the scales today?

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 14:01

@Zebracat never mind, you'll probably do better this week, well until Friday at least.

@instantpotnoodle well done, that's about a pound off so good work.

I wouldn't say any of us are smashing it atm 😁. Where are the big losses? I wonder if most of us are weary with this healthy eating because we lose so little every week. I'm not complaining but a good loss week for all of us would be nice.

Off to do my exercises since I missed them yesterday and felt very guilty.

I had great intentions today. I ran this morning even though I am not feeling 100% then got home at lunchtime from the office and felt absolutely horrific, my lunch was pre-made lentil pasta which is quite calorific and not even that nice, then I ate a runny yolk scotch egg courtesy of dh, then I ate 5 chocolate digestives dunked in a cup of tea because I felt so shit. 🤦‍♀️ my plan was then that that would “count as my tea” but then I also ate my tea. (2nd 🤦‍♀️ of the day)

so…. What a numpty. Will resume again tomorrow. I must get to bed earlier tonight. I’m not going to the gym tomorrow. I might walk in the morning but no run. Food is also sorted. Just gotta stick to the plan!!

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 21:07

@thenewaveragebear1983 You can't be expected to eat only a little or really healthily when you're not well. Get yourself better, get some good sleep and start again when you feel well (I hope that's very soon).

I've just realised I'm out for a carvery on Wednesday night and I'm panicking. I thought I was free all this week apart from a bacon sandwich at our little dog walking cafe. The carvery will be a difficult one to navigate as we have a meal deal which includes dessert. This could be a difficult week after all😬

Today has gone well, dog walk and exercises done, food not too bad.

OP posts:
MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 03/07/2023 21:37

@poorpaws perhaps a carvery wouldn't be too bad... try not to eat much during the rest of the day and avoid the real baddies (cauliflower cheese, apple sauce etc), have lots of veg and not too much gravy or roast potatoes? Says me, with a weakness for roast potatoes !

Or just sod it and have the extra calories that day!

Any children going who can help you with dessert?

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 21:41

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor no just me and dsil. I can forego the potatoes but love cauliflower cheese. The desserts are quite small usually so I could be ok.

D&v here. Trying to look on the weight loss bright side as I crawl to the toilet.

poorpaws · 03/07/2023 21:49

Oh bless you @effiesgoldwig I hope you feel better soon. 🤞🏻 for good weight loss though.

Oh no... although every cloud and all that! Hope you get a good payoff on the scales 🤞

poorpaws · 04/07/2023 07:48

@effiesgoldwig how are you this morning? I hope it was one of those 24 hour bugs and this morning you feel better.

We had a bit of excitement yesterday. We walked up to what we call the railway field and sat on a bench. The steam train passed behind us, sparked and set a bush on fire. With it being so dry lately the fire took hold and we moved up the field to safety. Smoke and flames everywhere but only minutes later we heard the fire brigade on its way. Eight firefighters arrived and had it under control very quickly. Then we went on our way. I did think to myself "you need to get a life" 😁.

Have a good Tuesday Independence Day everyone.

Zebracat · 04/07/2023 09:40

Blimey@poorpaws Anyone would find that exciting. I’d be obsessing for weeks. You have a life and it sounds lovely to me.
I put on another pound overnight. Think I’m on a binge week. Just had clafoutis for breakfast.

Gigi789 · 04/07/2023 10:15

Hope @effiesgoldwig feels better soon… I felt awful yesterday, nauseous all day so just had water and an evening meal. 14 st exactly today so I’m 1lb down 🙃. Let’s see if that lb keeps bobbing up and down all week!

Ledochas · 04/07/2023 11:43

Well my first week weighing in with you guys and I've lost 1.6lb. However I've been bouncing between 170 and 173 for weeks and today finds me at 170.2. So I'm not sure this is that much of a win. My body is refusing to go below 170. Drastic action is needed... no booze until I hit 168. Let's see how long I last...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2023 20:01

Good day for me today except all day I have been having binge fantasies and daydreams about junk food, chocolate, toast and other delicious carby treats. How weird. I’ve eaten a lot of chicken today which has kept my protein up and carbs low. My dinner was delicious, a king prawn fish cake with a massalla sauce in the middle (I didn’t choose them, they were an Asda sub on my order, but I would have them again), with salad. But I have kept under my calorie and carb totals coming in a 1439 cals And 74g carbs.

I feel still under the weather, very weary and I could go with another early night and decent nights sleep. I’m contemplating a run tomorrow morning, kids school is on strike so I’ll have them both here with me while I wfh, so i might need my escape time first thing. I’ll see how I feel in the morning.

effiesgoldwig · 05/07/2023 07:28

15st0 this morning. It worked as a weight loss plan. Would not recommend. Feeling much better today but fully expecting the weight to go back on tomorrow. Just going to enjoy the numbers today! 🤪
