@effiesgoldwig you really are a star, so well done. You are doing magnificently. Pleased you're joining boost week, could be 4 lbs off 😁. Whatever happens you are brilliant and should be very proud. Respect!

@effiesgoldwig that's fantastic

Vebrithien · 12/06/2023 17:58

Boost week?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/06/2023 18:17

@effiesgoldwig well done, you should be very proud

@Vebrithien yeah boost week is where every now and then we all actually stick to our diets every day and stop titting about, and funnily enough we usually lose weight as well…. 😂 if only we knew that was the secret to weight loss!

effiesgoldwig · 12/06/2023 18:19

Thanks all

@Vebrithien boost week i believe is a week where we are extra good to try and boost our weight loss. So depending on what plan we do maybe we'll reduce our calorie allowance or cut out carbs or do a bit of intermittent fasting. Or whatever it is we do, we do it better for a week.

poorpaws · 12/06/2023 19:32

@Vebrithien Just to add about boost week, we not only try to eat less and healthier but we try to move more too and we post daily during the week for support. If you do it properly it's hard but we often get a 4 lb or so loss for the week which feels absolutely amazing.

It's a good boost Day 1 for me. Long dog walk, exercises, eaten fruit for lunch and salad for dinner.

I've also started sorting the Room of Doom (which needed doing months ago). This room was originally a bedroom which I made into a sitting room with tv, comfy chairs, coffee tables and dog beds (it's known as the dog room). It was created to be a sort of snug for cold winter nights (and it is very cosy), except I don't use it much. It's full of discarded magazines, tons of paperwork waiting to be filed, dog towels and blankets and a dead plant 🙈.

So today I've started on it and it's all so depressing. I've thrown a lot of magazines out, done a huge amount of filing and cut back and resurrected the plant. It's an ongoing project, which is paws speak for I can't really be bothered with it. Anyway it's made me move more so a good boost for the beginning of the week.

I hope we all do well this week and try to post daily with your progress. Has anyone got any idea how much they'd like to lose/think they can lose this week? I've managed 4 lbs before so I'd like that but I'd be very happy with 3 lbs considering how rubbish I've been lately.

@Gigi789 how stressful for you. I do hope he's OK.

@effiesgoldwig amazing, well done.

BOOST WEEK. LET'S GOOOOOOO!

Theredjellybean · 12/06/2023 21:08

I'd like 1.5 kgs off...
I did eat bread... possibly with butter x 2 today...damm that bread making course.
But has chicken salad, no carbs for dinner
Now in bed and plan a long run in the morning

effiesgoldwig · 12/06/2023 22:33

I'm going to aim for 15.2 by next Monday.

I've made some ice lollies with sugar free blackcurrant squash to curb the sweet cravings and try and stay cool. Hopefully they'll be a help if I can fend the kids off them 😆

Zebracat · 12/06/2023 22:42

I kept within my calorie allowance. Turned down chocolate digestives and leftover chips.😇 Tomorrow I’m going to properly clean my bedroom and weed the worst bit of the garden. And make some soup.and swim my mile.

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/06/2023 00:03

Aww good luck all with boost week. I've managed to avoid a few of my naughty treat isles when shopping today so hopefully I will feel a bit lighter in a few days.

instantpotnoodle · 13/06/2023 06:42

Finally got back on the scales and I’m 2kg up (now 74.1kg)

time to open up MyFitnessPal and start being stricter - proud after a days not great eating yesterday that I dragged myself to the gym last night. So that’s something!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 13/06/2023 06:43

Morning 👋 May I join please?

I went clothes shopping a couple of weeks ago and frankly the rear view mirrors in next and M&S are brutal. A bit of a wake up call - that and the fact I'm clothes shopping because my size 16 summer clothes from last year are too small for me 🤔

So, I started at 14'7, I've been really (well, a bit) strict with minimal snacking and trying to keep to 1400 cals a day. I've cut out bread which has made me feel much less bloated.

I've upped my exercise - doing C25K on treadmill and walking on it in between. I'm not a runner though, I find it a slog tbh.
I started on week 2 (I completed C25K about 5 years ago so was feeling cocky) I'm now on week 4 but struggling to get the last run section completed. Hey ho it will happen!

Just weighed and I'm 14'3 - hurrah

I would like to get down to 11stone ish by Christmas.

I will do this!

poorpaws · 13/06/2023 07:45

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor welcome. I started my diet (ages ago) because of M&S mirrors, I was horrified. We have started a boost week where we post daily and try extra hard with weight and exercise to (hopefully) lose a little extra. We are only one day in if you'd like to join us. It's not easy (no treats) but we usually see good results.

I'm very pleased with progress on Day 1 of boost week, let's hope I can keep it up. How are you all doing? I know it's difficult but when we see the results it's so worth it, so keep going everyone.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 13/06/2023 09:52

Thanks @poorpaws count me in

I've done 25mins on the treadmill before work this morning, ran for 5mins of it which I wasn't planning so I'm feeling good about that.

I'm trying not to eat until lunchtime but I'm v hungry so will drink lots of tea (and might eat my apple but once it's gone it's gone!)

JP and salad for lunch with some grated cheese. I think salmon and salad or veg for dinner.

What does everyone do regarding diet..? It is mainly calorie deficit?

(I will read the thread back at lunchtime to get up to speed)

effiesgoldwig · 13/06/2023 13:15

Cheerios for breakfast, chicken salad pitta and pom bears for lunch here today. 877 calories so far. Still got about 900 left for dinner so a good start.

Had homemade chicken ramen for dinner last night which was delicious and super healthy as there's no oil or fat in the recipe at all. Just chicken stock, grilled chicken, spinach, noodles and sweetcorn. It's our new favourite meal - the kids love it! I confess it was a bit too hot for soup last night though.

Not sure what tonight holds for us. Possibly more grilled meat and salad. Possibly something pasta based. I have a fussy DH who won't really eat "basic" food. Everything has to have extras added on to it. Last night that meant he added chilli oil and Szechuan peppers to his ramen. If we make enchiladas he'll have to add extra chilli sauce once it's cooked. I think he's deadened all of his tastebuds with too much spice over the years so now he can't taste anything.

PinkArt · 13/06/2023 18:06

Ah I missed this and can't possibly start boost week a day late. A decision that has nothing to do with how badly I did in the last one 🤣
Good luck to all the boosters though. I finally have salad bits in my fridge again so hopefully things will start moving in the right direction.

effiesgoldwig · 13/06/2023 18:10

We went for lamb koftas (thank you left over bbq food) with salad and a low cal dressing.

Turns out salad has hardly any calories. Who knew?

I think the heat is helping sap my appetite a little.

Zebracat · 13/06/2023 18:48

I started really well today, but just ate crisps and a twirl. We’ve usually eaten by now which is why I was so hungry. I will have less dinner than planned, it’s tagliatelle and sausage. I have swum and walked today.

Tiredanddistracted · 13/06/2023 19:19

Checking in!

Didn't have time for breakfast due to oversleeping. Let's pretend I'm doing intermittent fasting and this was intentional.

Lunch: pasta salad, made with wholemeal pasta, lighter than light mayo, tuna, chopped peppers and carrots, rocket and coriander.

Dinner: the mythical mumsnet 'massive salad'. I felt a right knob making it and kept giggling whilst eating it. Chicken breast, salad leaves, coriander, tomatoes and cucumber, feta, beetroot, rocket, wholemeal pitta.

Dessert: I'm having some kind of ice cream. I considered foregoing it, in honour of boost week, but I've decided that is madness.

Fin.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/06/2023 21:16

I had a good day today, my meals were basically meat + salad+ mayo and fruit as desserts/snacks. I had a small homemade cupcake at work that my boss has made. Went to the gym and drank lots of water. So all in all a successful day, day 9 of my 40 day challenge completed ✔️

annoyingly I feel really hot and bloated, I retain water terribly in the heat- but at least that deters me from getting on the scales!

Gigi789 · 13/06/2023 22:20

I’m afraid today ended badly - was good for lunch and took my packed lunch of salad and a low cal wrap with me for babysitting, did a brisk 20 min walk, then for dinner had pasta with pesto and other lovely stuff I won’t distract you with… Twas delish but about 20000 calories and I followed it with a sour twister lolly. Will try again tomorrow 😳

effiesgoldwig · 13/06/2023 23:08

Ended the day 250 calories under budget! Making me want to go and find something to eat... I won't though it's too late and I'll only get heartburn.

Even if you've had a blip I'm sure boosting all day and then falling apart at night is still got to be better than not boosting at all!

Tiredanddistracted · 14/06/2023 07:22

@Gigi789 whenever I do this, I repeat to myself 'there is plenty of nutritional value in pasta and pesto'. There really is!

One day does not break a diet 🙂

poorpaws · 14/06/2023 07:46

Good morning everyone

<wags finger at the naughty boosters 😁> you must try harder 🤣

That is just because for once I have done well, yay! Declined a cafe lunch and had fruit at home and a slimming dinner. Was starving in the evening (when I usually eat a ton of chocolate, crisps etc) and had a bowl of porridge 😇. This surely has to result in a stone off this week, surely!

Keep on to the good boosters and try harder to the naughty ones (which could well be me reporting in tomorrow).
