Is anyone else doing Atkins?

I'm just starting the New Atkins, New You diet, looks much more together than the old one with better health tips and up-to-date info. Started this morning with boiled eggs and sliced ham, so far so good as I can drink diet coke .

Anyone else?

I am on a diet loosly based on atkins. I'd like to do the full atkins but I just can't cut out milk etc!

Anyway I am in week 2 of my induction phase (29g carbs a day) and have so far managed to lose 9lbs! I weighed in at 11st 10lbs last Monday. This morning I weigh 11st 1lb. Amazing weight loss in one week and I feel great for it. My clothes are looser already.

My weight loss is slowing now slightly but that's no bad thing, my aim for this week is to just get below 11st by next Monday. An easy goal considering last week's weight loss.

After this week I'm going to increase my carbs to 30g to see how it affects me.

Sorry that should say 20g carbs a day, not 29g!

Hi Citrus! Well done you, that's incredible loss so quickly. I too love milk, I drink it at nearly every meal, so it's going to be hard to give that up but I'm determined!

I've never stuck to a diet programme for more than 4 days before so really hoping this is the one to push me onwards. Had a salad with tuna, cheese, and dressing for lunch, it was absolutely delicious so I'm hoping things like this will continue.

I am going to weigh myself tonight as have to go out and buy a scale! I weigh much more than you though .

I need to properly tally up the carbs, so far just been sticking to the food list and writing down what I eat. Is there a list that tells you everything and how many net carbs there are? I don't see one in the book, just a general list.

me too! been off it for a month as I was on holidays and it was impossible to avoid carbs but I did it for 3 months before that on lost a stone and a half. I found it really easy to stick to because you never have to go hungry and when you get into ketosis you feel great!

Have started back in induction phase today

I guess my carbs to be honest but then I'm not being as strict as you. There are carb counters out there, I've found them on Google.

So far today I have eaten:

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs and one rasher of bacon (0 carbs)

Lunch: fish in butter sauce with sprouts (approx 5g carbs)

Mid Afternoon: 2 slices corned beef with melted cheese (approx 2g carbs)

Dinner: Roast chicken with salad leaves and mayo (approx 3g carbs).

So I still have around 10g to play with. I'll have a hot chocolate at 9pm (5g carbs) and maybe a crackerbread with crab for supper (approx 4g carbs).

I find it quite easy to stick to as you don't go hungry but I do get sick of eating the same old stuff all the time. Especially egg and bacon! roll on next week when I can up my carbs lol

Hi boogie! How are you doing with it now after having got out of the swing of things? I think I'd find it difficult to start again, but so far so good for me!

Citrus how are things going with you, still keeping it up? I'm on Day 4 (early days yet!) but it's going really well, no sign of the 4-day break from diet that I normally do. I'm eating lots of boiled eggs, salad, tuna, chicken, and peppers, made myself a 'dessert' yesterday of double cream, unsweet cocoa and spleda - was GORG.

Also ate my chicken last night with a cream sauce made of double cream, cream cheese, and grated cheddar . The 'high-fat' stuff is fine with me obviously .

Corn beef and melted cheese sounds fantastic, let me know what else you're eating so I can steal some tips. I agree I feel a lot more full on this diet than I even did when not dieting (as was loading up on carbs carbs carbs, donuts, bread, pasta, etc!).

I also bought some Atkins bars from Boots and don't find them nearly as revolting as some of the other diet products out there so those are serving as great snacks for me. I just ordered some shakes off the intranet too.

You are all doing really well! I'd appreciate some advice...
I started low carbing in January with an idea of losing 3 and a half stone by end of May, I nearly did it, I was half a stone away.

Now I've come back from hols, I stuck to low carbs as much as I could, ate chips, toast, rice and pasta occasionally and put on 4 lb in 2 weeks (bloody hell!!)

Now I appear to have put on a total of 9 lbs, reckon this is because I have not been excercising? (too tired!)
Or cos I have stopped having atkins bars for breakfast and salads with sandwich fillings for lunch?
I'm skipping lunch or breakfast at the mo as I'm just not hungry.
