Hi - Sorry not to have been around but have been poorly with UTI, on antibiotics which then gives me an upset stomach, so feeling very sorry for myself!

But, hope everyone else is fine and doing well - please come and share!!

owlets · 07/06/2010 07:47

Well just got on the scales and have lost 2lbs this week. I'm now 11st 3lbs (was 12st 3 weeks ago)
I tried on my size 12 topshop jeans and I can get in them - they look bloody awful, but they do up!!!. Will try them on again when I get into the 10's and hopefully they will look better.
so, how is everyone else getting on?
Sorry you've been ill gailforce.

gailforce1 · 09/06/2010 20:03

Owlets and Fairygodmother - thanks for your god wishes, I am now feeling much better! I have lost 4lbs but concerned that it will go back on now I am eating normally! Been very bad and not exercising and need to get back to it, always feel so much better when I have had a walk. What does anyone else do exercise wise? Have to admit that I am not keen on the gym but might have to bite the bullett in the winter when it is too dark to walk.
Owlets congrats on your weight loss, what diet have you been following?

Fairygodmother1 · 10/06/2010 17:12

Gailforce I walk about 6 miles to & from work & I try to do an hour of wii fit a night (pulled a muscle in my back yesterday so I've been resting it but still doing the walking).

gailforce1 · 11/06/2010 21:04

Fairygodmother spounds as though you are doing loads of exercise!! I am going to be good and start walking again this weekend.
Wonder how everyone else is doing? Lia are you around?

Fairygodmother1 · 12/06/2010 10:06

Yay! I lost 5lb & 6cm off my waist!!!!

owlets · 15/06/2010 09:23

well done fairygodmother! 6cm is fab! I haven't taken any measurements which I sort of regret now, especially for my flabby thighs and upper arms. It would be nice to know that although they still look huge they are getting smaller...

well i've been so so busy since last Tuesday - this is the first time i've been able to log on. I weigh 10st 13lb this morning! not sure how that happened, but I've been eating when hungry so hopfully I am eating enough. I've lost over a stone in the last month, and I'm getting lots of comments now which is a bit of a boost.

Good luck to all of you this week.

ItalyLovingMummy · 15/06/2010 09:40

Glad I found this thread. I have just come off the pill, but I really would like to lose at least a stone. I lost 3lbs a week ago then weighed myself on Sunday and had put it back on! I was good last week (Mon-Fri), but then Saturday night DH had bought two bottles of wine, which we then had with ryvita with pate on top and frazzle type crisps. Hmmmm.... I think I am only going to achieve weight loss if I cut out wine altogether and have no 'treats' at weekends. I have to face the fact that whilst some of my lucky friends only need to cut out one thing e.g. chocolate, I have to cut out everything bad to lose weight.

Fairygodmother1 · 15/06/2010 11:18

Welcome Italy. I find if I cut out alcohol I don't lose weight really. I just cut down. If you deny everything then it's not achieveable or long lasting!

I think I'll stick with the low GI.

ItalyLovingMummy · 15/06/2010 11:29

I know what you mean about alcohol, but I don't do too badly on that front until I go to friend's houses and then its hard to turn down as I enjoy social drinking. Do you drink red wine? I usually have white, but am wondering if red is better. I had virtually no carbs last week until said 'bad' night and I think it is carbs that are my enemy.

Fairygodmother1 · 20/06/2010 19:44

I sayed the same this week - but at least I didn't put on!

owlets · 21/06/2010 09:25

Morning Fairy et al,
There's nothing wrong with staying the same! Well done.
I had a bit of a (pre-period) binge yesterday. Nothing sweet in the flat was safe from my rampage! I ended up missing dinner as I was so stuffed with biscuits etc. I was really relieved that my period started this AM as atleast I could blame my hungry catapillar impression on something...
Well, it hasn't shown on the scales (yet!), I'm 10st11lb this morning (and still feeling slightly stuffed and sick...)
Its the fortnightly supermarket shop tonight, so I'm looking forawrd to having a well stocked, healthy kitchen. Will go easy on the biscuit purchaces this week though...

Good luck to those who are weighing in later, and to everyone for the coming week!

babydan · 21/06/2010 13:40

Am I too late???? Can I join?

I am 5 foot 8 and currently weigh 12 stone 9. Would like to lose 2 stone and be ready to conceive

baby number 2 in August September time.

Also would like to lose as much as possible in the next 9 weeks before my holiday!

owlets · 28/06/2010 11:00

Hello,
I've had a mixed week... some days when i've been too hot to want to eat much, and others when i've pretty much eaten for the sake of it (mainly low fat though, in my defence!).
Yesteray I got my kitchen aid blender thing out and experimented with making home made frappacino type drinks. turned out a bit sickly towards the end, so i'll up the coffee and lower the sweetner and hopefully it will be lovely. Very refreshing (and suprisingly filling) on these hot days. I'm going to get back in the habit of making fruit smoothies/crushed ice drinks too.
I weighed 10st 9 1/4lb this morning. Very pleased with that!I'm fitting into clothes I haven't worn in ages which is fab. I'd like to get to 10 stone , and maybe a little lower depending on how my legs look when i get there!
Hope you've had good weeks.

Hey there. Of course you can join! Although there doesn't seem to be many people weighing in at the moment.
I've been on a diet nearly 2 months now. I've lost 1st 5lb. I'm cutting down on carbs, drinking lots of water and more eating fruit and veg. Seems to be working.
Are you following any plans?

I know what you mean about being on a permenant diet. Have you read Paul McKenna's book 'i can make you thin'? I bought it a few weeks ago, and although there are bits in it Im not sure about, it does have a good, no nonsense approach to eating. I've learnt some good tips from it, and would reccommend it if you're the sort of person who eats for the sake of it (just like me).
I tried the special K diet once but couldn't stick to it. I get bored easily!
I'm typing this on my phone, so sorry about my spelling! Will pop on tomorrow when I've got my computer back and writing is easier!
Good luck!

Paul McKenna's mum used to be a home economics teacher at the school I went to. Unfortunately she left before I went there.

I don't weigh myself but have been doing 2 classes at the gym each week so hopefully that's helping.

gailforce1 · 06/07/2010 17:43

LIA - WHERE HAVE YOU GONE??
Come back and tell us how you are and get us motivated again!

Owletts I have read Paul McKenna and think that his advice, overall, is good especially about conscious eating. I know that I have been/still am guilty of sitting in front of TV and eating without noticing what it is I am eating IFYSWIM.

I have reached a plateau, I lose 2/3lbs then put it on again and all the while the elusive 1lb that would mean I could say that I had lost 3 stone, evades me!! Does anyone have any ideas of how to get me off this plateau? Read somewhere that Kelp helps the metabolism so am taking 30mg starting today. Have a blood test booked for next week to check thyroid.

ALL IDEAS WELCOME!!
