Just interested.I want to drop that dreaded half a stone before my birthday, which is the best way to do it?.I am fancying the low carb method.Do you think this will be sufficient?.To be honest I love my wine way to much, and have 1/2 a bottle probably 4/5 times a week if not more,so am hoping that ditching this will give me a head start. Any advice to shift that jelly belly would be gratefully recieved

I've recently lost 1 stone in a month.

To do it, I've almost completely given up alcohol (I used to have a small glass of wine most nights), cut down my coffee intake to twice a day as I'd often have a toast or other snack with my coffee, have taken to drinking herbal tea once or twice a day when I'd otherwise have had coffee, cut out the mid morning toast, butter and marmalade, and that's about it! I walk my dog for half an hour most days but I now do it twice a day if I can. Hth.

Whilst I have not lost weight that quickly I recommend drinking 2 litres of water per day. It helps fill you up and stops you eating when, in fact, you are thirsty!

I've just lost a stone in 5 weeks through weight watchers. And to be honest, it's not been as hard as I was expecting.

For me it's mainly been about watching my portion sizes and cutting out the snacks.

It's also made me much more conscious about what I eat and why/when I eat.

I lost 12 lbs in July last year, and have kept it off . I cut out crappy snacks, went easy on the booze and ate three decent meals a day (for me what has worked best is a small breakfast, small lunch, no snacks at all and a hearty, healthy meal - manage to keep it uo most days with the odd slack day). I also swim three times a week for 30 mins, but other than a bit of walking, do no other exercise.

I have just lost 18lb in four weeks. That is following Cambridge diet (and it was my first four weeks).

Hi, I have just lost 19 pounds in 4 weeks and 3 days on the Dukan Diet. The first 2 weeks were the hardest but now I am on a roll. I have started a thread about it, check it out

I have been doing a low carb diet since October. The first few months I lost about a stone a month.

duckyfuzz · 26/05/2010 21:12

cutting the booze out (and the associated munchies!) along with bread adn otherr refined carbs shoudl do it tbh, I lost 2 stone last year just doing this, half a stone in a month is doable without starving yourself

blowbroth · 26/05/2010 21:26

In my first month on lighter life I lost 30 pounds! 17.5 pounds in the first week! I have now gone on to lose 4 stone in 10 weeks. 4 weeks to go and hopefully another stone. I can recommend it to anyone with more than 3 stones to lose. Brilliant!

mummymels · 28/05/2010 00:24

Oh my gosh blowbroth, that is loads so quickly. You must be feeling great.
