God, that is the worst title. Apologies.

So, I'm trying to lose weight by eating sensibly. Thought that if we start a thread listing what we eat each day. it might make us more aware of intake... I tend to eat without thinking so I'm told this will help.

Breakfast: Oatibix bitesize with sultana and apple (they are very sugary )

Lunch: Noodles with onions and mushrooms.

Dinner: mixed salad, a ham sandwich.

Snacks: an apple and the tiny bit of cake my ds left on his plate...

right here goes today's intake:

breakfast: 2 boiled eggs

lunch: leftover cold roast pork and some chilli cheese

dinner: tuna marinated in teriaki and wilted spinach

drinks: black tea, coffee, water, 1 diet coke

BessieBoots · 18/05/2010 10:25

Ysterday-
B- oatibix (I am a creature of habit)
L- mackerel fishcakes, cous cous and asparagus.
D- veggie tortilla stack.

I had a few spoonfuls of eton mess and a piece of cheese but I did go for a two hour uphill walk with the 7-month-old baby in the sling to make up for it, was dripping with sweat and knackered! Also, my lovely Dad asked me if I'd lost weight 'cause I looked thinner

Yikes good job I only had three teaspoons. Must be extra good today.
B: weetabix and milk
S: apple
L: salad with turkey and mustard dressing, 2 baby bels, pineapple and kiwis
D: quiche from yesterday and possibly roasted veg (not sure I can face salad twice in one day!)

Whispy I think feeling tired/low is natural as it is your body adjusting to not having the sugar spikes from processed carbs such as white pasta and bread. This is how it was explained to me anyway.

whispywhisp · 18/05/2010 11:34

notasize10 and msboogie...thanks for your replies re feeling tired. I feel much better today.....had a really good night's sleep last night (in bed quite early) and feel a bit more 'with it' this morn.

I've been eating really healthily now for a week and....weighed myself this morn...and have lost a total of 5lbs! And, to be honest, I don't miss bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, choc, crisps, biscuits, cake etc etc....even though everyone else in this family can eat all that I've not (so far) been tempted.....SO FAR!

It's just a case of finding tasty, interesting and just as filling alternatives that is the learning bit for me....

msboogie · 18/05/2010 12:47

me too whispywisp.

its amazing how you can not miss all those things like bread and potatoes that you loved so much (and people post on here all the time saying they couldn't do it) but I think it is easy because you do not have to go hungry or eat tiny portions or feel deprived - that's when your brain decides that it doesn't like you being on a diet and makes you think about food all the time until you give in. When you are in ketosis that doesn't happen.

Last night my DP made home made pizzas - he has got quite good at it now and his looked lovely, I had tuna and spinach but I made it as nice as I could and wilted the spinach in butter and sat there eating it perfectly happy not feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't have pizza

(not much anyway )

Manda25 · 18/05/2010 16:08

B : pot of cut up fruit

L: tomato and mozzarella salad & pot of cut up fruit

D: chicken breast and salad

oh and 3 hot chocolates !!

whispywhisp · 18/05/2010 17:41

Another good day for me today.....this is actually turning out to be fun rather than a chore....

B - fruit and fibre with blueberries on top

D - two wholemeal crackers with salad, blueberries, an orange and a tiny piece of cheese (which the dog shared with me cos I was stuffed!)

T - smoked mackerel, carrots, green beans and broccoli (DH & the kids have had mash with theirs...and, yes, I managed to make the mash without even licking the spoon!)

I'm just compiling a shopping list for Thurs/Fri when I go to do a weekly shop....I will be going round Tescos thinking of some different meals to do without relying on potato, pasta and rice...and I am going to concentrate on us all eating more fish..fortunately the kids love fish so hopefully not too difficult to do.

whispywhisp · 18/05/2010 17:42

manda...thats a good too eh?

whispywhisp · 18/05/2010 17:42

B- Oatibix
L- ham salad with 2 small slices of sodabread

BessieBoots · 19/05/2010 11:15

msboogie · 19/05/2010 13:10

I am dead impressed bessieboots!

oh I forgot to post yesterday's food -

breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
lunch: chargrilled chicken fillet, salad
dinner; 2 quarterpunders with cheese and fried onions

BessieBoots · 19/05/2010 16:51

You see, after being a total smugface earlier, I just had two chocolate hobnobs.

Pah!

wukter · 19/05/2010 20:32

Am being an intermittent poster, sorry.
But I have had a really good couple of days.

I think I have invented a new strategy. I make nice dinners as usual for the family.
On my plate is a big plain salad with "Dinner Dressing". It sounds horrible but is quite nice - and it's working so far(day 3 only though!). 2 squuares of chocolate one of the days also.

That with porridge for breakfast, wrap/salad/soup for lunch and plenty of fruit, herbal tea and water.

(And a glass of wine at the mo, ahem)

I am full of admiration for all you ladies.
Even you, Bessieboots, only 2 biscuits, I think I would have had the pack.

BessieBoots · 20/05/2010 05:41

Thanks wukter, but I had another two after that, and a box of popcorn at the pictures.

So, yesterday was
B- Oatibix (the last of the oatibix! Hurrah!)
L- Pesto salad with pasta and veg.
D- Baked potato with tuna, vegetable rice and red onion.
Snacks- 4 hobnobs and a small (but deadly) box of popcorn.

OP posts:
msboogie · 20/05/2010 10:01

yesterday was an odd one

I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast and a some shredded duck breast for lunch, then cheese for a snack. When I got home from work I wasn't hungry at all so didn't bother to have any dinner. I guess the ketosis has knocked my appetite out a bit.

But have lost another pound and think I am starting to look like a normal-shaped person who needs to lose weight, rather than a fat- shaped person (if that makes any sense).

whispywhisp · 20/05/2010 12:05

Looks like we're all doing well on here!!!

Yesterday - good day for me ....porridge for breakfast, fruit for lunch and tuna salad for tea.

Today, so far....muesli for breakfast, sunflower ryvitas (3) with slice of cheese, banana and satsuma for lunch and for tea tonight I've got smoked mackerel....

Already I can feel I'm going to have to wear a belt to keep my jeans up!

DH has also noticed that I've got bags more energy lately....whereas I'd normally sit down in the evenings and prob nod off...I'm up doing the sarnie boxes for the next day, ironing or even out with the dog! Weird. I'm guessing too much carb in my diet made me sluggish/tired?

msboogie · 20/05/2010 14:15

whispywisp high carb intake cause your blood sugar to go up and down a lot, when its down (i.e. after sugar has been absorbed)you get tired and sluggish becasue your body wants more sugar for energy. With a low GI/carb diet your blood sugars stay more level and you don't get the slumps.

The level blood sugar thing is very good in lots of ways - health wise and moodwise.

There's not much snacking going on here is there?

whispywhisp · 20/05/2010 16:14

Crikey msboogie...you really know your stuff don't you?!!!! What a wealth of info you have! I'm so glad you post on here...you really do know the answers!! x

janajos · 20/05/2010 16:21

Yes I can't low carb either.

B bagel with organic peanut butter (1 tsp)
L Noodles and salad
S an apple
Dinner will be mushroom and onion omelette, salad and low fat yoghurt

look forward to tomorrow with lots of water, licorice tea and black coffee to wash it all down..

I have 3 stone of baby weight to lose!! Hope this works.

BessieBoots · 20/05/2010 18:11
