I want to catch the running bug - where is it?

I have heard lots of people talk about 'getting the running bug' and would like to know at what point I am going to find it. I've been running now for 3 weeks, twice a week for about 30 minutes a time but haven't yet got to the stage where I can't wait to go for a run.

Has anybody else experienced this?

I've just been for a 45 minute jog/run, I've never felt like i can't wait to go for a run, but I feel great now I've done it!

I know what you mean, once I get going I'm fine but I know people who can't wait to go and feel put out if they can't. How many times a week do you run?

I think you either have it or you dont.

I love it, and run 3 times a week, in fact I should have gonr this morning, but feel a bit achey after a long walk at weekend, and now I feel as if I've wasted this morning being on here, and I've got to pick LO up from nursery in 45 mins.

Runforfun, time spent on Mumsnet is not wasted . I do actually love to go walking and regularly go on a weekend, but I'm taking part in the RBC Race for the Kids in June and would like to run it. Possibly I need to ramp up the amount of running I do and push to 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes

You are right of course !

Definitely try ramping it up, combined with running as fast as you can for a minute during your normal run. You actually get used to running a set distance so it becomes kind of easy for your body, so it needs an extra challenge to get your heart working to its maximum from time to time.

Good luck for your race.

ok thanks for the tips, I will definitely try that!
