BF and need to lose weight

My DS is now 20 weeks old and I am still BF him. I have been told that until I stop feeding him I can not activly lose weight. My Problem is I am now heavier that I was at 9 months after having returned to my prebirth weight. I am worried as I have HBP and fear having a heart attack or similar. Does anyone know how I can shed some pounds without effecting my milk supply?

You can lose weight while bf. As long as you are not malnourished your milk won't be affected.

I gave up refined sugar and bread and lost two stone. WW and SW do a breastfeeding plan too.

Good Luck

I've been doing Weightwatchers for a couple of weeks, had first 'proper' weigh in at meeting last Thursday and had lost two pounds in a week. Supply hasn't been affected at all, and you get an extra 10 points on your daily allowance to make sure you're eating enough (if you haven't done WW before, that's loads!) DD is 9 weeks old and have breastfed her exclusively since the start.

You can also do Slimming World when breastfeeding as well I believe, not sure if you're after a diet club approach but I don't see any reason why you can't start trying to lose weight.

You can lose weight by changing habits, exercising and eating healthily. I think people mean you shouldn't do fad diets or try to lose weight drastically. Good luck

I walk loads (9 miles a day, 7 miles a day if just taking dd to playgroup and back 4 miles a day!!) yet my weight this time was really not shifting. I joined SW and in three weeks have lost a stone and two pounds. If anything I have more milk, ds is 14 weeks and is 16lb already and I was struggling to keep up, not so now!! Good luck
