Hi,
I saw the GP last night as I am 3 stone overweight and really battling to shift this-she has given me Orlistat and I will be seeing the nurse weekly for weigh in's.
Has anyone else used this and found it worked for them?
I know of the side effects and hope that these will completely put me off anything that contains fat......
Thanks

I think its the same as Alli....it cuts the fat out of your food and makes you pass it rather than storing it.

It works as far as I know, just stick to the calorie intake you know about and you'll be fine..

How has the first week been?

hi sahs. I take Orlistat, have done since last July. It does work, but like anything, you have to put the effort in as well. It does cut out the fat, but i find so long as i stay within 15g fat per meal, there is no nasty side effects - everything remains normal IYSWIM

It is the threat of the side effects that worked for me as well, and i must admit to having a couple of incidents where i got too confident with what i could eat

Other than that, exercise is a biggie - i have to go for 4 weekly weigh ins, and the nurse knows straight away if i have been exercising or not, as there is quite a difference in the weight loss.

Good luck with it, and i must say, i have only heard of people being prescribed it who have at least 5 stone to lose. You must have a very supportive GP That's half the battle.

Good luck with it, and any questions, give me a shout
